Ice to Roller Conversion in the UK

Recommended Posts

A friend won a pair of CCM 752 Tacks on eBay yesterday and wants to get them converted into roller blades...he wants to have the chassis taken off his Mission Wicked Lites and put onto them but neither he or I know of anywhere in the UK that'd do it...can anyone recommend somewhere / someone good?

Thanks for your help!

Where abouts are you from in the UK?

Puck stop in sheffield definately does it, me and a few of my friends have had it done there. I think the shop in slough ice rink may do it as well. It's worth calling them first though as Im not sure!

What association do you play in?

Im also under the impression that Ultraworld in Oxford does that, he is converting a pair for me. But that might be quite far for you to travel. Hey Ash, have you got your new skates? Bring em to training!! :D

He's in Shrewsbury (Shropshire / the Midlands for those who don't know)...I guess Sheffield / Oxford is the closest!

We play at Deeside in the Flintshire Inline Hockey League as the wonderfully named Weston Rhyn A! We used to play at Derby with GB Inline as the Shrewsbury Wildcats / Telford Timberwolves back in the good ol' days!

I'd personally recommend Puck stop in sheffield. I know they do the conversions and they usually do a good job. I know 3 or 4 pairs that have been converted there and there was no problems with any of them.

I play ball for oxford and Puck for farnborough by the way.

I know of one that is in the building permit and planning stages, not sure if it's the same one that est referred to a few months ago.

A new, full size purpose built rink does need to be built, is it viable, I don't really know the figures. I'd love to see another rink in the Midlands, pretty good access to both North and South. With Derby having closed there is a huge void between Bisley and Rotherham and skate central in Sheffield.

I have a bit of time on my hands at the moment, i'm going to look into building costs, and see if i can secure some corporate sponsorship (or at least guage interest interest) and lottery funding to see if I can get one off the ground myself.

You make such a good point steve,

the lack of rinks in the midlands area is terrible really, it is chipping away at all of the teams - having no rink to train and having to travel hours to get to the nearest ones is causing clubs to struggle with money etc.

we are in great need of a top notch facility, brand new, perfect sized and well maintained and run rink - something that would be open to all regions, all associations all year round - we really need somewhere that the entire country can look at and play in that is of top quality - somewher people would enjoy travelling to

- none of this party stuff in the background liek rotherham, or

- cold/rundown/dirty rinks like sheffield, its a great size rink but who enjoys skating around in dirt and dust?!

- oh what i would give to have rinks like some of the ones they have in the states.

its great to hear that your emphusiastic about getting something sorted steve, i hope something can be pulled out of the bag!
