Hockey Pants

Recommended Posts

I Need to buy a new pair of hockey pants. I was thinking of the Rbk 8K pant, but i was wondering if there is anything better out (such as the new bauernike pant). So should i wait or just get the reebok ones

IMO 8ks are currently the best pant out there. The only gripe I have about them is that the leg zippers tend to unzip while I play which wouldn't be a big deal but the refs are always telling me to pull them up or risk getting a penalty. I'd wait until the XXX lite pants are out and then you fan try them both on.

It's just a rule around here that it has to be zipped up, I don't really know why.

Alot of regions are starting to enforce this rule with the pants. High school hockey in Mich and Ohio have this rule in place. It comes down to an injury and liability issue. If the pant leg is unzipped and wide open then the front of the thigh is exposed to injury not to mention that we have a major blood artery that runs down the inside of the leg that is also exposed if the pant leg is wide open.

That doesn't make a lot of sense to enforce the rule under the guise of protection. Some of these pants use 400 denier polyester, and perhaps some are even less. Admittedly, whatever thickness is used is thicker than nothing, but we're talking about 1/16" of additional material.

the XXX Lite fits different than anything I've owned..I like them a lot..sometimes wonder how they have so much protection even in the back with the segmented area....having been in an older pro stock supreme pant I do like the extra protection at the spine...its saved me a few times when taking some x-checks in front..

skating in beer leagues..all different levels of players here in DFW...

if you're a shot blocking defensement I'd probably say go with something else, but otherwise its pretty light/mobile/protective...I like the 3 piece design...seems to protect the hips...they weren't overly long like my others and that took some getting used to..I haven't compared them to a retail model yet..which I think will have an adjustable spine pad in the back along with a slightly different belt..
