You can also remove rivets if you have a shoelace, a rubber band, 4 push pins, and a turkey baster.

But I must warn you, only try this method if you are MacGyver.

MacGyver plays hockey, so he's done it. I miss that show!

I've removed rivets at home using a big nail, a hammer and a small wooden block. You'll also need pliers or snips to remove the coppers. Front rivets are the most tricky. I have easy access to a shop and did this to get a head start on a re-drill/re-alignment.

Other than that, you have no real reason to remove rivets at home---If you cannot get to a shop to remove rivets, then how would you put in new ones?!?

This sounds just nuts and I'm sure it will work but take a long time. You could use a dremel tool if you have one and are that desperate. I'd highly suggest taking it to your LHS as they probably have the right tools and know what they're doing as opposed to MacGuyvering it.

Hey! I have removed a holder with some twine, a couple of paper clips... oh ya and a drill with a high speed metal bit (part of my swiss army knife).

My rink has a riveter/remover... only costs $9 to have them re-rivet the whole skate. I would suggest what others said - LHS or rink..

hi,

the reason is that I wanna put a roller chasis on the skate but my LHS wanna charge me $60. $20 for taking off holder of each skate ($40 in total) and $20 for putting the chasis on.

I just try to save $40 for the removing part.

Inline would be easier to do than ice, as the toe rivets do not go as far up as ice boots. Logan's method works - get a nail that you can fit in the hole, then hammer it out. You can take the coppers off by wedging them off or using snips.
