As a Canucks fan my opinion may be a bit biased.  But when Burrows was clearing the snow it was obvious that Turco gave him a chop.  Both sides should have been called and the powerplay that resulted because of it gave Dallas a goal and then the game.  But as they said on Sportsnet... there's no rule that says a goaltender can't build up snow on the sides of the net and there's no rule that says a player can't go clear the snow.

Rule 59 Handling Puck with Hands

A goalkeeper must not deliberately hold the puck in any manner which, in the opinion of the Referee, causes a stoppage of play, nor throw the puck forward towards the opponent's net, nor deliberately drop the puck into his pads or onto the goal net, nor deliberately pile up snow or obstacles at or near his net, that in the opinion of the Referee, would tend to prevent the scoring of a goal.

(NOTE) The object of this entire Rule is to keep the puck in play continuously and any action taken by the goalkeeper which causes an unnecessary stoppage must be penalized without warning.

The penalty for infringement of this Rule by the goalkeeper shall be a minor penalty.

I missed the game but as an old ref that Sportsnet info sounded wrong. I pulled this from the NHL rulebook on the web. The goalie cannot pile up snow around his net. The ref or linesman is free to clear the posts of snow at any time during a game.

Thanks, I never knew that. Is that an international rule also? Anyone know?

Prediction: If they squeak into the playoffs, they take out Detroit in the first round. The battle to fend off Anaheim and San Jose would toughen the players and the coaching staff (I don't think Crawford has that much experience in chasing playoff spots).

Nucks blueline is still a mess. Will the injured guys be back by playoff time? They can take down Detroit with production from 22,33,77 line. Big time tending from double A will be a key, too.

They just got Ohlund back (rib), I don't know about Salo's shoulder. Jovanovski says he thinks he'll be back by the playoffs. Weinrich and Carney are a new pair, still trying to get used to their team-mates and the system.

If that's the only line producing, the Nucks won't win.

Chadd, was it you who left the threatening envelope of white powder at the game? :) I thought I had a hate on for some teams, but my hat's off to a master.

That stuff's expensive, I'm not giving it away. :o Seriously though, there has to be something wrong with you to do something like that. Wait, I guess that doesn't exclude me either.

If the other lines play even, they will. Sedin bros will benefit from Olympic experience. Whoever they face, Detroit will not be playing St Louis or Chicago in first round. No more easy nights for Wings in April. Canucks need to go on a run to get some momentum.
