He's playing through an injury. I think it's a chipped bone or something along those lines. It should have put him out for the season, but he said he'll play through the pain to help LA with their playoff push.

I think thats part of it as well. He knows his numbers are brutal and this is a chance for him to say "See, I don't completely suck, I'm still trying"

You can hate this player as much as you want but you gotta admit this guy loves hockey. Do you think he would do that for the money? I don't want to bash anybody but i don't think players like - i'm sorry- kovalev or even -sorry again- most europeans would play like that with an injury to help the team make the playoffs.

Maybe i'm wrong and he does it for a contract next year tho. I doubt it. This guy has hockey in his blood.
