Shorthanded67 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2006 I'm sure there's plenty of people who listen to the Dan Patrick show during the afternoons on ESPN radio. I've been listening occasionally for the past two years or so and I have a quick question that hopefully someone can answer. Those who listen to the show know that most callers will state their height/weight and sometimes get a *ding*. What are the origins of this joke and how did it come about? We were discussing this at work today and nobody seems to know. Hopefully I can be the hero at work and get some light shed on this!
PBRyan 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2006 I used to listen a lot when I was doing the 9-5 thing. I am pretty sure the height/weight is for a sponsor who has a drawing to give away pairs of khakis to the listeners (not sure of the name though), thus they say their height weight (I guess pants size isn't as entertaining). It's kinda funny though hearing the height and weight demographics of the show. I think its been going on for 2-3 years now.

It's from when Dibs was a co-host of the show, he'd be in training and would report his weight with the bell. Callers just started doing it randomly.

Really? I used to listen on my way to the shop and rarely heard him talk about hockey in the first hour.
