Chadd

Sharks - Canucks debacle

Anyone watch this game?

This may be the most poorly officiated professional hockey game I have seen since the 04 cup. The Sharks announcers are going nuts and are annoying but they do have a point.

It's not on TV (for me), but I've heard it's bad. Something about Bertuzzi pushing Toskala and getting nothing when Cheechoo got a goalie intereference penalty earlier when it was unavoidable.

4-4 now right?

Thornton got his jersey pulled up over his head and someone was pulling on his jersey and had their arms around him eariler. Complete freaking joke and it got worse as the game went on. A very clear case of two veteran officials doing what they're used to doing, "letting them play".

Does anyone know in how many games this season the Canucks have blown multiple goal leads, or multiple leads in one game? If I had to guess...I would say 80...but no, that can't be possible, I guess it just feels like they manage to get ahead and then lose every game. These guys have made it real hard to remain behind them since the olympic break. Yeesh, come on Oilers, 0-2 to finish the season, let's go!

I'm a Canucks fan, but they just can't get it together. This group had a good run and had some respectible seasons, but even if they make it into the playoffs I can't see them doing well. At all. Aaaaargh! Gotta love the agony of being a sports fan and watching your team struggle. I'll keep the faith and hope for the best....but....

Wow, I was going to post the same thing. I can't believe how crappily that game was called, on both ends, and I'm a Sharks fan. The Cheechoo call was one of the lamest calls I've seen in a couple of months.

HA! Chadd, you're like the millionth person who isn't from the Bay Area that hates our announcers. I guess it's an acquired taste, those dudes are hilarious!

I don't mind the cheechoo call if they're keeping it tight but how the hell do you let Bert run Toskala after that? Cheechoo went into the crease before he got bumped and he made no effort to miss Auld.

Luckily in my area, the Giants/Astros game was rained out, so fox sports put the sharks/canucks game on. Woohoo!

The officiating was bad. It was funny to see Thornton's jersey pulled over his head...and he was like, think I did this myself?

And that Cheechoo call for goalie interferance....horrible!

At least the sharks won!

Playoff's baby...here we come!!

Actually, I've always hated local announcers because they are always so biased. It's like every penalty against their team is a bad call and their team can do no wrong. I've found that the sharks announcers are generally pretty honest in how they call things. They give all the local information and but when the sharks do something stupid they call it like it is.

Remenda is a goofball. I give him credit for being energetic and trying to be informative, but I prefer a more low-key style.

Drew Remenda doesn't hold back when the sharks make a mistake, let me tell ya... :D

I agree with you, but a lot of people think otherwise. I remember one time Drew was on Cheech soooooo hard for continuing to miss his man on even man rushes into the zone that Cheech refused to talk to him for a few games.

Maybe people don't like them because Drew is a motormouth. I think he does such a great job because he used to work the video room for the Sharks for a while.

And Drew doesn't hold back on anyone on the team...last week he was criticizing big Joe for not covering his man on a back check.

A few months back he was ripping up Scott Hannon for a bad pass. Was even claiming how PO'd Ron Wilson was on the sidelines.

As for the Canucks play these last few weeks, I have to go with the words of that famous hockey color guy from Cartoonsville, Daffy Duck: "That's Despicable!"

They just lost, they weren't beaten.I don't think the Canucks played poorly, they did everything they could, forechecked and backchecked like crazy, and focused on the special teams the Sharks were just better that night.

Remenda cracks me up.

In a game earlier this season an opposing goalie took a snow shower in his crease and started throwing a fit. Remenda: "What do you expect? You're playing on ice--you're gonna get a little wet. Suck it up, princess."

In April the Canucks are 1 win, 4 losses. Beaten or lost = no points. Go back to Daffy: "That's Despicable."

They get a point for an OT loss, don't they?

1 ain't gettin it done. They need 2 every night since 2 weeks ago. Edmonton has done them a favor by not getting on track in the stretch, also.

Last 10 games-

Sharks- 7-2-1

Avs- 5-3-2

Oilers- 5-4-1

Canucks- 4-4-2
