Skate insoles

Recommended Posts

I have been using 2 insoles in my skates since I got them because they were too small. I have a feeling its putting me too far on my heels when I skate, does anyone use superfeet insoles and are they worth it? I took one out of each because it hurts the arch in my foot now, and my skates feel totally different, i can now feel the ice better.

If you mean that you are using 2 insoles in each skate (one on top of the other), then that is not going to help you at all. It may make the skate a little more snugly, but for every good thing it does, it will do more harm. I would imagine that the two insoles may slide around on each other and also make it so you aren't getting good feel for the ice and energy transfer. I would try to get skates that fit your feet better. Are the skates just too deep for you, or are they too long as well? Either way, see if you can get a skate that fits you properly. Remember that skates are the most important part of your equipment. I haven't used superfeet insoles, so I can't offer any advice for you there. I usually just use the stock insoles that come in my Bauers. They work great for me. I hope you find something that works for you.

If your skates are too big, there is nothing you can do to make them fit.

If your arches hurt, theres a number of things you can try. I use superfeet, and I think they've helped, but I think the biggest difference was in the way I laced my skates. By tieing my skates looser over the arch I eliminated my arch pain.

My skates didnt fit well when I first got them, they now feel fine without the 2 insoles. Im going to pick up some superfeet and see how those help.

in my old skates i used to use 2 insoles but after I just started using thicker socks.

The superfeet are a tiny bit thicker than the Bauer ETF insoles. When i first used them I felt a little bit sick.

I used the Shock Doctor insoles a few games. The major problem I had with them is that they are thicker than the insoles my skate came with and they caused alot of foot pain.

I found the same thing with my Shock Doc's. They are quite thick and it was actually causing more arch pain and causing my toes to go numb. So it is back to the stock footbeds in my Flexlites. Which BTW are a little too thin IMO. I have a problem with them not staying in place and bunching up when I put my foot in.

Just have to make sure I really loosen the laces way up.

Are the insoles on the Synergy's made by shock doctor? If so, do they work okay in them? I would imagine the ones design for the skate would work fine. My friend has 1300's and has never complained.

do you think regular insurance will cover orthotics?

That all depends on what you mean by "regular insurance". I can tell you that my insurance will not cover the cost of orthotics unless I have a letter from a doctor that says I need them, and even then I only get $200 towards their cost, which will not cover them, last time I checked. I am sure others do not even get that much towards orthotics.

The new ones are definitely shock doctor. I would imagine that Easton alleviated the problem I had by compensating for the fact that the insoles are thicker. I wouldn't expect these to create the foot pain I had.

i use shock doctors and i find them fine, i guess its just the shape of your foot decides wether there good for you or not. im more flat footed so maybe thats why i like them

i use the superfeet and i absolutely love them. after using them in my skates i started putting them in my shoes, IMO there more than worth it.

Are the Superfeet insoles perforated, to let all the moisture out?

whatever came in my ccm 952 super tacks is what i recommend. for once I dont have to mess around with the lacing and socks to get the pain to go away.
