Which skates should I get.

Recommended Posts

I have been playing ice for a long time. And I want to play some roller in my spare time. I currently have the bauer vapor 2 with the rocker chasis thing. They are way to small now and I need new ones. I dont want to spend to much becuase i wont be in them that much. Around $100 or so. Depending on the quality of the skate. Any advice on what I should get?

the nike skates out there should fit closer to the vapors than the mega series will (they are more like supremes)...same for rbk and ccm, there skates are a bit wider

i only play roller on asphalt with friends during the summer since there isnt much around here, plus its just my time off from ice hockey, ive worn vapors and nikes, so i picked up a pair of nike aero quest skates from sports authority near where my sis lives for like $50 (they were from 05 so they were discounted), but ive also seen a flexlite 2 inline skate online for $100...

If you like the fit of Vapors and like the rocker chassis you could look for higher end Vapor Rocker skates in your size on ebay. They're a bit more challenging to find now, but it's possible to find Vapor 6, 8 and even 10s in and around your price range. Actually I just picked up a pair of Vapor 10s and since I already have a pair of Nike V-Force boots converted with a rocker chassis I'll likely unload the pair of Vapor 6s that I have. They've been used for a couple seasons of roller and at the outdoor rink a few times, but they're still plenty stiff. I'd rather keep the wheels to use on the other skates, but would sell the boot, chassis and hardware for like $50 plus shipping. They're 9.5Ds...don't know what size you need though.

If that size doesn't work for you or you'd rather by new you can still find the Vapor Rockers new or like new on ebay every once in a while. In my opinion the Vapor 6, 8 and 10 will be a much better quality skate than the low end current models you'll get for $100. They'll be much stiffer and should last you longer. As long as you like the rocker chassis I'd look for a deal on the higher end old Vapors.

I have the CCM PF2's, and I have been very happy with them. I use them almost every day, and have been very impressed with them, being a cheap entry-level skate.
