Recommended Posts

As some of you know me. I am a goalie. But i skate out 2 to 3 times a week now. I got a pair of Easton Synergy 500 Size 8.5D (on sale at hockeymonkey.com)I was wonderin' since i will be skatin'a few times a week . are t-blades the right thing for me. Do you think it will throw off the way i get my gaolie skates cut(i get my goal skates cut very close to a player skates) And what would be the stuff that i neeed because LHSi work at part-time doesnt have very much at all. if you would give me some treads or somethin. it will be greatly Appreciated. Thanks so much.

Sorry ebondo. i didnt like em'missions

Funny that you mention, it seems to me like skating with t'blades is kinda like skating with goalie skates. I just though of how similar it is whilst reading your post.

remember that the cut you get on your goalie skates are different from player skates because of the width of the blade. goalie skates = more bite

5/8"=15.875mm. So I guess the closest T-Blade you can get is the "Long" rocker with 15mm hollow, or L-15.

how much did you pay for the eastons?

if u payedc less then 150, i dont think i would spend 100$ on t-blades, i would of just put the skate money and t-blade money together and buy a nicer pair of skates.

are the graf goalie skate (blades) similar to player blades in width. because when i got them. they felt so weird. and to me it felt like a player skate only in a goalie boot?

Yes....and no.

A common statement after players skate in t'blades the first time is they felt they were skating on butter knives, which is similar to offensive players trying goalie skates. It's because the same stride used with conventional blades won't work with t'blades -- and vice versa.

The 'No' part of the equation is that being slightly closer to the ice --t'blades will put you about 1/2" closer to the ice -- requires you to bend the knees deeper to get the edges to grip. Once you've found the proper angle for maximum grip, t'blades are WAY sharper and grippier than goalie skates.

i dontunderstand w/ the urnners it says s,m,l what does that mean?

Small / Medium / Long rockers. Roughly, the Smalls are about two-inches of flatness around the middle of the skates, while the Mediums are about three inches and Longs about four.

Not true. You don't hae a clue what you are talking about. Goalie skates can have the same sharpness feel and grip as any other blade, tblade or other.

no not totaly true you can get the same cut but the goalie blade is thicker, so when i gets the sharpened it has more room to shuffle t-glides and such, not as thin as a player blade that allows you to turn on a time and qucik stops & starts. a goalie blade is made to move side to side not stop at the drop of a hat. player blades are thinner so you can drop & max.the aount of speed you can pick up.

The ONLY reason you get that sesation, jrphantom, is because the goalie pads don't allow you to lean over and take advantage of the shallower hollow (most goalie skates are both wider and have a shallower hollow). If you sharpened them to the same hollow as any other blade, and then skated on them agressively, without any goalie pads on, they would be just as "grippy" as any other blade.

I unfortunately have 2 pairs, CCM ZG130's and ZG120's. I will be using them for reffing or something next seaon, but I refuse to wear them in a game situation any more.

i know that. but its that wide to because of the shuffles. and to stay on 1 spot. do you use T-Blades

A goal skate that has the same hollow as a regular blade, or a tblade, will grip more, not less.
