Carolina road trip

Recommended Posts

Awesome: Got 4 tickets to game 5.

Problem: We live in buffalo.

Solution: Kick ass road trip.

its pretty funny that tickets for the 3 games in buffalo sold out in 12 minutes (although there was only something like 5000 left anyways), so we went onto the carolina web site and could still get tickets to all 4 games down there. Pretty nice and cheap too, only $70. Good thing you guys lifted that out of state ban, trying to keep away buffalo fans is a bad idea, or a good one depending on how you look at it :P

In all I think there is between 15 to 20 people that we know going down, and the hotel we are staying at is something like less then 5 miles from the rink. The big question is this.. What is there to do around the rink on a saturday night? and do your super markets sell labatts or do we have to bring our own beer?

There are a lot of people who live down here who grew up in the north, so it really isn't as southern as you may think. I have only live down here since November, but it is kinda growing on me. Most of the bars in the area have Labatt on tap, so that shouldn't be a problem. I live about 15min from the rink, but depending on where exactly you are staying I could give you some good places to go.

Just don't leave the Triangle area (Raleigh/Durham)...that's where you get into the "Deliverance" type places. :D

I worked in Wilson and stayed in Rocky Mount (about an hour east of Raleigh) for a year and a half. When I say there is nothing to do...I mean NOTHING. Honestly, around the big cities it's quite nice. You have the southern hospitality combined w/ the northern feel (restauarants, bars, stores, etc.). Take your golf clubs...lots of good courses!

go to www.capsroadcrew.com

They organize trips regularly to the canes games from here. They say its one of the best arenas to go to in terms of comfort and friendliness.

On their page they also have a travel tips section

This is a direct link to the carolina section

http://www.capsroadcrew.com/travel/carolina.htm

has how to get there, where to stay, where to eat and things to do section.

Hope it helps you

hey thanks guys. as soon as I find out what hotel we are staying at i'll let you guys know.

I didn't mean to sound like a dick in my first post, I was just a little fired up about the road trip. It should be pretty sweet though with a block of around 20 sabres fans from NY all sitting in the same section. 332 I think? right behind the home team goal if i remember right.

HotBacon you have somewhere to play in Wilson/Rocky Mount or do you have to go to Raliegh or Greenville?

Unfortunately I was in my first "retirement" while I was down there so I didn't attempt to play. I don't remember ever seeing or hearing about a rink in that area though. I would be willing to bet the closest you'll find is in Raleigh/Greenville (just like the bars) :D
