wickedwrister 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Just wondering. They played a Darren MacCarty special here before the Car/ Buf game tonight (I am near Detroit). Did they play something else near you?

akhockey 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 There was a good Messier program on two nights ago. Did you all get that? Which one? The one about the Leadership Camp or the one where they raised his jersey at MSG? Both of those were pretty good.I'm a big fan of all the Legends of Hockey shows. I love watching all the old stuff. wickedwrister 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 It's definitely National Yeh, I know it's national (or even international). My question was about programing.
Edge 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 it's not regional...I love that channel now. Great hockey specific stuff on around the games. I thought OLN would be a disappointment when they got all the games, but I'm really happy with what they've done. That Legends of Hockey show, the mccarty thing, messier, all those are really well done.

David13 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 I heard that somehwere in new york they pulled oln off regular cable and made it so you had to pay for the channel so anyone who wanted to watch the playoffs would have to pay extra I think my dad told me he read this somewhere im not sure if its true or not though. JR Boucicaut 3801 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 OLN (or Versus as it will be known as) is weak. I just can't bring myself to watch a game on there...thank god for CBC.
biff44 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 I have been really happy with OLN hockey coverage, both during the regular season and now. I am seeing many more of the regional playoff games than I would have with last year's ESPN coverage. My only gripe is that not all of the OLN games are in high definition. This puzzles me as I have Comcast cable service, who owns OLN, and I just assumed they would channel all of the OLN hockey stuff onto the parallel INHD feed channels. Chadd 916 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 OLN (or Versus as it will be known as) is weak. I just can't bring myself to watch a game on there...thank god for CBC. Outside of Satellite Hotstove and/or Ron MacLean, I don't really see much of an advantage with the CBC coverage during the regular season. In fact I actually prefer the main OLN game announcers to the TSN and CBC guys. There's no way Bill Clement should be the studio host though but I actually like him as a color guy. Hopefully Pierre takes the assistant coaching gig with the Pens and gets the hell off TV.As for the corperate pissing matches in NY and with Dish, OLN has some problems that need to be resolved. bwear 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 OLN is excellent compared to NBC in the past several seasons. For some reason, they had the white balance way off on their overhead cameras and you could barely make out numbers on white jerseys and would constantly lose the puck in the glare off the ice and boards... Horrible camera work.

My reasons why OLN is screwing up hockey coverage. I can't stand Don Cherry. I almost puke every time I see him. Most likely because I'm not Canadian, I don't mind the OLN commentators, even though i don't find myself listening to them much.
