Good question.

Some of the goalies over here play both ice and inline but don't add anything to make their pads slide more.

What surface are you playing on?

You definitely want to be on a different pair of pads on concrete and cement flooring else you'll rip up your good, expensive pads.

I get a chance to watch the junior teams that play up here, and I have noticed the goalies on those teams have covers on their pads, almost like pillow cases built for pads to allow the leather to slide on our sportcourt surface.

I noticed the one goalie had 'Eagle' brand covers, so although I've never seen them for sale anywhere, I'm sure you could e-mail Eagle and they could tell you where to get a set.

Other than that, most of the goalies in my league just have old shitty pads. But it looks to me like the covers are the best way to go.

The thing about cloth tape is it will probably make your pads all sticky when you take it off. Especially in the summer heat, that glue will get all gummy and stay on the pads.

Just something to consider before you tape up your nice new pads =D

i'd buy some cheap crappy pads from play it again of something. And use those for roller. You can attach plastic plates(called slide plates) to the inside of the pad to help you slide.

I actually have a pretty nice pair of pads(Paul Thomson custom classic pros) I'd let go for under $200.
