Gear in Toronto

Recommended Posts

I don't think there are too many stores with a big selection of inline gear in and around Toronto...you'll find many stores with a few things, but I can't think of any with a BIG selection. Sport Check used to carry some higher end skates, but in the past year I've only seen mid-low end skates there and absolutely no pants or girdles. The National Sports on McCowan has a few high end skates like the RBK 6K and 8K, but they don't have any pants or girdles (or didn't the last time I was there). Just Hockey on Don Mills has some skates, but I didn't see any pants or girdles there.

The National Sports Clearance on Sheppard West had a few rollerhockey pants the last time I was there, but mostly junior/youth sizes and they didn't have very many roller hockey skates at all, but they could've gotten more stock in. When I was there a few weeks ago they had a few tables of ice skates, a bunch of recreational rollerblades and maybe one or two pairs of older model Mission D series skates.

One place I saw that had a decent selection of girdles and pants was the National Sports in Pickering (I was in there for a baseball clearance sale they had a month or so ago).

The Play it Again Sports stores usually have a few pairs of pants, some girdles and some mid-low end skates, but none of the high end stuff.

I haven't noticed high end wheels or bearings in any of the stores. The wheels I noticed were either at National Sports, Sport Check, and Play it Again and they were basically recreational skating wheels, but none of the high end wheels like Rink Rat or Revision.

The league I play in does sell some high end stuff through their store: http://triumphsportsshop.com/xcart/customer/home.php

If you're planning on visiting stores in Toronto I'd recommend calling first to see if they have what you're looking for as most stores in Toronto don't seem to carry a lot of roller hockey merchandise. The focus is primarily on ice hockey (a lot of the equipment like helmets, shin and elbow pads can be used for both, but there are some things like wheels, skates and pants that are roller specific).

Ontario Sucks for roller gear. we always get the short end of the stick because Canada as a whole is barely a dot on the roller market map.

you can get hockey accessories whereever you go because there are LHS's everywhere, but for specific roller hockey gear, stick to the US stores

Edit: I can suggest a few good hockey shops in the area though

AL's sports - Burlington

Duke's Sports - Etobicoke

Corbett's Sports - Oakville

Just Hockey - North York

I would think that the NARCh sponsors are going to have the HockeyGiant store at the Hershey Centre stocked with the latest and greatest...and along with 2million GEAR sticks :P
