ya they have a lhs over here. great selection of stuff at outrageous prices and staff that promise to call you back on stuff but never do... ya i've used them and got a few stories as well. if you live near surrey then it's a good play to go if you need gear right away but if you don't then just order it from the states from epuck or some other place online.

I've been to the hockey shop a couple times and I find the staff are pretty helpful. I didn't think the prices were bad, they seemed on par with the other shops, and some stuff was a bit cheaper. They've got the best selection of gear out of any other LHS I've been in.

Exactly like Shute said great selection with terrible prices. The staff are almost completly useful, theres like 16 year old kids that just stand there any know nothing about hockey and hockey equipment, you'll ask them if they have __________ in and they don't have a clue what your talking about

not sure who you've been talking to :P

and honestly, whats so bad about the prices? It's basically the same as any other LHS i've been in, Docksteaders, Cyclone Taylors. Maybe not The Sports Exchange though but i've never been there

On the gsbb(a goalie forum) they have Jeff(i think) from the hockey shop, I've heard numerous compliments about how he goes out of his way to help clients.

I live in Vancouver which is about a 30 min drive from Surrey. And on occasion, I will go out of my way to go to The Hockey Shop becuase of their product selection. Their prices are fair and sometimes better than other stores.

yes the prices are fair compared to other stores around here... but the US online shops just blow them away. it's just to big of a difference even after shipping costs and customs. but yes they are good compared to other LHS around here but if you are willing to buy from the US then you're a lot better off.

if you buy stuff online then yeah obviously the us stores are much cheaper. But the hockey shop is great. the staff are really helpful (obviously the younger guys are no use...their senior staff is great), and if you buy skates there, you get free heat molding, punching, stretching, whatever fixes repair you need for the skate thought u bought for as long as u own that product. they've got great selection plus their prices are pretty much identical to all other vancouver lhs.

The Sports Exchange's prices are about 2/3 of the hockey shops

The Sports Exchange is hit and miss though, they're best deals are on Pro stock stuff. The hockey shop pretty much has the best selection around.

Are their instore prices the same as online? I'm on their site right now and their still selling M-1 gloves for $160 cad and Jofa 9090s shins are more expensive than 8K shins

Oh no don't look at their site. I don't think it's been updated for a while. Best bet is to go to their store...friendly knowledgeable staff and their selection is not that bad either.

Yeah it seems like they updated it recently. But yeah can't go wrong with either Larry's or Hockeyshop. Hockeyshop's sharpeners are really good!

Yeah I thought you meant Larrys didn't have those prices. I've actually been in the Hockey Shop a couple times (my brother bought 8K pants) and I didn't find your pricings bad at all. Just asking because I've neve been in Larry's before.

haha no they don't sell M1 gloves at that price...actually I don't think they sell M1 gloves at all anymore. I was there this afternoon to pickup my ST and their selection is really good....almost as good as hockeyshop!
