twistedwrister 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2004 im 13, and i need new skates. I dont want to pay a ton of money for vapor XXs or anything like that, but i need a decent pair of skates that are durable. Any suggestions?
Hiub 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2004 Try the Vapor XI's, they are pretty cheap but still a good supportive skate that feels a lot like the XX. I think they got them at www.epuck.com .
stix04 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2004 im the same age as u and I'm a bantam A, and i just bought CCM Externo 60's for $250 at my LHS. They are perfect for me, but also u could try the vapor XV's. They're about the same price as the Externo's and only a step down for the XX's. Its all PP, w.e u like buy them.

djinferno 2 Report post Posted May 30, 2004 If you got good skating skills, I'd recomand a good graf 503... you won't have as hard of a time breaking em in and they allow good forward movement
Pats 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2004 Depending whether you foot is adult sized or youth sized, just make sure the skate is not one which you cannot handle in terms of stiffness. I see tons of kids in skates that are way too stiff for them and as such, they are not skating near to their capacity.
lubtrojans66 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2004 Try looking for some of last years or the year before's top models, most will have dropped significantly in price and you will still get a good quality skate.
asdfa 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2004 i agree with trojans, look around for last years models. i know for a fact that my LHS has vapor 10's for around $250 and national sports has bauer comps for around $150. if you're looking for really good durability, i suggest you look for some mission amps, they're tanks, i know form personal experience. they should be dirt cheap too
Eazy_b97 1 Report post Posted May 30, 2004 Heads down to your LHS, look at the skates in your price range and try them on, narrow it down a little and get a feel for what type of skates fit your foot best and which you find most comfortable. Then think about it, maybe ask a question or two to the guy or here and make an educated decision. Go with what you think is best and others think will be best for you, not what others like, everyones foot is different and their isn't a "best skate" that everyone can use and like. slapshot2 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2004 I play AA Bantam. I have the Bauer 6000's and they're perfectly fine for me. They have nice support and are pretty comfortable.
Hockeyman9621 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2004 Since you are still growing try finding some used grafs. They will already be worked in and you should be able to find them for a third of the original price, just a suggestion.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted May 31, 2004 Try looking for some of last years or the year before's top models, most will have dropped significantly in price and you will still get a good quality skate. That's the same advice I'd give. No sense paying extra just to have the latest model, you get more skate for your money.

Racer8 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2004 Twistedwrister, what skates did you have and what do you like in skates? Wide foot, narrow, etc. And do you value lateral support over foward flex, etc. Maybe consider an '03 pair of Easton Air SBX, or the UL SBX, if you can find them in your size. Good comfort and forward flex if you can find them in your size. Again, if you're still growing there isn't any reason to get the latest and greatest that you'll be out of in a year.
