hkyplyr17 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 Are any of you guys (or girls) interested in the UFC, or mixed martial arts? The UFC 61 was on last night (on PPV) and I thought the "co-main event" with Ortiz and Shamrock was pretty weak, considering all of the hype..anyone else catch this? On a side-note, Jeremy Roenick was shown on camera and acknowledged quite a bit..altough there were a ton of celebrities in the crowd, I found it cool how they kept showing him

On a side-note, Jeremy Roenick was shown on camera and acknowledged quite a bit..altough there were a ton of celebrities in the crowd, I found it cool how they kept showing him Both main events were weak. Shamrock should have been allowed to go another ten seconds at least to try to escape. Sylvia and Arlovsky fought like a couple of grammas. I was reminded of the fight posted here called "ultimate hockey fight" or something like that where no one even threw a punch. Arlovsky was making good headway while he was working on the knee and thigh, but it seems he forgot how to win a match. He deserved to loose. I cannot wait to see Lidell and Wanderlei. That will be AWESOME!! What about GSP as one of the coaches for season four ultimate fihghter? Any idea who the other coach will be??
hkyplyr17 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 yeah the other coaches for TUF4 will be Randy Couture and Mark Dellagrotte (Ken Florian's trainer)..i think instead of "coaches," they will all act more like advisors or trainers but im not sure.. The fighters will be verterans who will copmpete for the chance to fight for the title at middleweight and welterweight divisions...should be pretty interesting.. gman 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 i dont like all the holds etc that you get in all these new ones.. i liked the earlier ones when they just went out and streetbrawled ;) I agree completely. But I think that in order to get some sort of sanctioning my the NV athletic fed and a few others, they had to come up with some rules. And ithas snowballed from there. That is pretty neat that Couture will be in the mix again. He is really inspiring to us "old guys". I wonder if there are going to be some ego troubles with all the experienced fighters. Then again, that is what gives the ratings right? I still enjoy watching Chris Leban get his clock cleaned every time he fights.
odp 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 Anyone else think Arlovski hurt his right leg? I thought he might be able to take down Sylvia like Crokop in the last PrideFC event, but stopped leg-kicking in the 2nd round.
oggy_3 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 i didnt see it but a person who i work with ordered it and she said it blew not worth the 40$ plus tax for PPV. even those its a girls point of view more manly women then anything.
McCabe24 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2006 One of the main events went way longer than expected and was basically a boxing match with a handful of kicks while the other lasted under two minutes. Had Arlovski tried to at least take Sylvia to the ground it would have been a better fight, Shamrock just sucked.Tito says he will fight Ken again in November when Chuck defends against Silva, Shamrock won't refuse another chance. If everything plays out that could be an awesome card.
mik3 1 Report post Posted July 10, 2006 Although the Shamrock fight was probably called too early, anyone who saw the first fight knows that Ken was probably saved some more disfigurement of his face.
