Refacing my blocker to match my gear...

Recommended Posts

It's summertime and there isn't much new going on so I thought I post this just for S&G's...

I finally got around to putting a new palm on my blocker and had enough material kicking around to redoe the facing on it to match the rest of my gear.

The blocker had a small skate cut in the lower corner of the facing and was just looking ill anyways. The palm had a small hole worn right through two layers of the material on the thumb. Next vacation I'll take it apart again and finish doing the side pieces to match as well... I just wanted to try out doing the facing first to see what was involved.

I always liked the look of stitched on lettering like Brian's uses rather than the heat and stick crap all the mfg's seem to be migrating to so I incorporated that into the design.

rest of the pics are here...

All together it took about 8 hours over a three day period to do just what you see here. From drawing up a template, hand cutting the materials, adhereing all the pieces down, stitching all the pieces down, tearing down the blocker, stiching in the new palm and finally stitching everything back together... Kinda gives you a new perspective on why equipment is so expensive.

Follow up to "what I did on my summer vacation". This one is "what I did this weekend"... :D

New thumb cheater on my Vaughn trapper.

Why? It's a pro return glove so it didn't have the cheater found on the retail version... and quite frankly, I need all the help I can get. :P

Before and After pics....

enjoy...
