My A8's should be here this week also. Dying the main frame black, the rockers gray, and then mounting them on a new pair of RBK 7K ice boots.

Our goalie prototype, which is a Fiziks aggro frame UFS mounted on the bottom of some Bauers, will start to work this week in OC. They look like junkyard dogs, for sure. The frames were made to slide and we're hoping they make splitting easier. You can jump from one side of the crease to the other in them. They were made for jumping, too.

My street skates used to be a pair of CCM goalies with white Fiziks frames. In Chicago, I had a bunch of reg hockey boots with Fiziks and they were the ultimate city and lake skates, where tough wheels get short and round very quick.

I drilled about ten big holes in each frame since the goalie won't be doing third story drops. Should be good for 150 MPH slap shots!! B)

Keith,

Thanks for the PM with regards to dying. Will I be able to remove the individual wheel rockers and dye them seperately from the main chassis? I would like dye the rockers gray and then the main chassis black (should really pop with a 7K boot). You mentioned the krylon paint....but I would rather use the dye as it is more durable. Let me know when you get a chance please.

Thanks!!

Sup guys. I just purchased the frame, but I'm having trouble finding any boots online and there are no decent pro shops around me. I'll be going back home from college next week so I'll check there, but I was wondering if anyone had any luck finding just boots online? I can't wait to put together my custom sprung skates! :D

i almost won a pair of 703's without a blade on them. But thats the only pair i've seen on ebay. It's going to be pretty tough, the blade really only adds between $50 and $80 onto the skate so it's not a huage depending on the price range you're looking in. maybe you can figure something out with someone on the board where the will buy the frame you take off.

I have a pair of CCM Vector 8.0 boots without any kind of chassis on them....size 9D. PM me if interested.

Does the A8 use all 80mm wheels? I was leaning towards buying a humm'r chassis and mounting it on my RBK 6K boots, but I would certainly like to run the A8 with all 80's. It seems you'd get the benefits of the Humm'r and have the good turning etc.. of the Sprung. Also what kind of pitch does this chassis have? Forward lean, back lean or neutral? Thanks.

To answer part of your question.....yes....the A8 does use a straight 80mm chassis similar to the Hum'er chassis. I am not sure about the pitch though. Sprungster would be much more able to answer that question.

So I ordered my Sprung A8 straight 80mm chassis a couple of weeks ago and they came in the mail earlier in the week. I have been home from work almost the entire week, battling bronchitis....so I have had a fair amount of time on my hand. So I got creative with Rit Dye and my new Sprung chassis. These will be mounted on a new pair of RBK 7K ice boots (opening them December 25th) hence the reason for the grey, black and lime green paint job. I'll post pics of the completed product once they are fully mounted.

Wow, Great job Spreedizzle! Those look great!

Thank you sir. Will look a lot better when the Grey and Green really "POP" when I have them mounted on my 7K's. :)

hey keith, i know i was a pain in the ass asking about the color on the A8. The RIT dye worked out great, I can't tell in the slightest that they weren't originally black. Probably going to mount them tonight, and I'll try to get pics up in the next week or so.

started mounting today. Only a minor pain in the ass. lining up the frame was really easy because the grafs have a line that splits the toe cap in half and the heal is really narrow so i was able to just eyeball the center. I'm probably within >1/16 perfect left to right and probably about 1/16 front to back. I set the skate up on a clamp setup upside down and then In terms of marking the holes because it's a dark graphite outsole a marker was going to be tough, so i took some elmers glue and squirted it in the frame holes it leaked down to the outsoles and left perfect dried glue marks where i needed to drill. Only problems thus far is that my damn drill ran out of batteries and i left the charger 3 hours away in vt, and getting those t-nuts through the holes in the insole at the toe is wreaking havoc on my thumbs, i probably need to get a bigger bit so they fit in easier. Also, i had to drill a couple odd holes into the frame because the stock holes lined up too close to the original holes and because they're grafs they have t-nuts glued in there already that got in the way. All in all very easy, don't know why i was so concerned. And it's def. more secure than any "professional" rivet mount i've ever got.
