There really isn't enough grinding to worry about it. It's just a scratch if it's necessary at all, and it's above the second wheel, which is often at the beginning of the arch and already above the frame. Nothing at all in the toe.

The mount holes are easy to drill. It's just placing them on the boot right that requires attention and double checking, with the front and rear wheels in the frame, before drilling. And if a hole is off and it's screwing the mount, move it or them until everything's aligned, before you rivet them. The thing about t-nuts is you can always adjust the mount. You just unscrew it and move the holes with a Dremel.

The large A8 will be available before the end of the month.

So according to Riotgear (I can't read!!), the Vanguard will be $160 retail. The old,old model A6 was $160 and not worth it, which was why we packed them in and made them much better and sold them for $65 with spare parts. They were worth more than that, but that's what closeout means.

The current medium A6 is well worth its $119, and it'll stay that price as long as the plastic and shipping don't go totally nuts. The Combo1, with 76/80's will be $125, same as the large A8.

I mounted some Sprungs on my Hi-ho silvers about 2 months ago (got the frames from a goalie friend of mine who's skates I also mounted). I love them, they feel like ice and have more grip and a tighter turning radius than anything I've ever skated on including the ol' bauer rocker. I'll try to get pics up when I get a chance.

Thanks Sprungster for an outstanding product.

JJ

PIHA Aston whatever our names gonna be.

Currently battling between which Sprung frame to pick up. I have a pair of Vector 8.0's that I will be converting with the sprungs. I am currently on the Tour Code 1's with the straight 80 chassis. My question is this.....pros and cons of the Sprung A6 and A8. Would it be better for me to go with the A8 due to me being on straight 80's for the past 2 years? Or are the maneuverability attributes of the 76's better than the speed aspect of the 80's. Looking for a little help and guidance....anything would be appreciated.

I think the thing missed here Keith is that the $160 is for the magnesium alloy frame. The aluminum is going for $70, $70 or so less than the Hummer and $50 or so less than the Sprung. You yourself saying that the old A6 going for $65 was more than a good price (no disagreement here) I think Mission might hit the aftermarket frame hard because of going with the price point area for the "everyman" model of frame and charging more for the premium.

I don't want to sound presumptuous, but isn't this going to enter a similar situation as the Fiziks frame for aggressive that didn't pan out because it was a significant cost higher than the (ordinary)UFS frames it competed against?

Maybe the mag frame costs a lot to make.

I didn't manufacture Fiziks, but I designed them from my prototypes with pro skater input from Tom Hyser and lecensed it to him and the Shatepyle guys to make and sell.

Fiziks paid the price of manufacturing in the US. The molds were totally too expensive to begin with and every minor adjustment was big bucks. When they went to aluminum rocker arms on each end the cost skyrocketed. Each one was hogged out of a chunk of aluminum, so even though they never wore out, the total initial cost was up into retail prices.

The high production cost killed them before they could move production to China, where everyone they were competing with already made their products.

If I hadn't spent all my time on hockey since then there would have been two new frames that were price point and much, much better in every way. With that said, the Yasatoko Brothers made Fiziks look very excellent all the time.

the fiziks look like they would make an interesting goalie chassis...

Funny you should mention that. They make excellent prototypes for development. I'm moving the goalie chassis concept, based on them, forward in testing.

They'll have the same suspension system as current Sprungs, just different proportions. But maybe hidden, like tbe Fiziks rockers, for many good reasons.

They will be here soon. Once you try them they are like some kind of serious symbiotic attachment that you don't want to even think about doing without.

My favorite VIP hard-sell pro loves them and wanted to know just what I was going to do to make them better before he gave them back to me. After I told and showed him he handed them to me, wanting them back quickly because he's used them every day since he got them and his old favs now suck. :) :) :)

With the extra length from the 80mm chassis, would a small be able to fit on a size 7.5?

I'm confused. A small what? I think the A6 fits a 7.5 the way the A8 fits my 10's. If you shrink down the size 10 picture, it looks just like a 7.5 with the A6.

The next size up from the A6 will be the C1, which is 76/80 and will be about a half inch longer than the A6.

The small will be all 72, which opens up the territory for the 72/76 between the A6 and the A72.

And the youth A68 with the 68/72 between it and the small.

The question of a smaller A8 has come up a few times, and it could be about 3/8" shorter by taking out the space between the 2nd and 3rd wheels. When we do the completely new models, we can make an all 80 with the wheels right next to each other.

No one has complained about the A8 wheelbase at all. It is a plus, as far as I can tell, for Hummer guys.

Can we pre-order, or get our names on a list for the A8's when they become available?

We're trying to get the pre-order going on the site today or tonight. I say we, but it's really my wife until we redo the whole thing soon.

Excellent. Just let us know when we can hop on there, and I'll pre-order the A8...in black if you'll have it in black initially.

Sorry, I meant a small sprung frame. Or would I still use the medium size?

The spacers are ready. It's three skates worth (done) or three pairs of skates worth (not done) of t-nuts? I have to get powdered dye to replace the liquid they don't want to ship. Let me know on the t-nuts and they're out of here.

If you go back a couple of pages in the thread you will notice that a new A8 frame will be available shortly. All of the same functions of the A6, but now designed around using a straight 80mm wheel chassis (similar to a Hummer...but Sprung).
