I agree With 100% ON Whey Gold Standard. When mixed with water, theres a lot left to be desired for taste.

Cobraa, at 16 I was on protein too, it's fine, that year on a heavy protein diet, i managed to gain 30 pounds, but i think growing helped with that too

i've been going to gym each summer since 14(when you go to the gym you stop growing)..i was already 5f11 180 2 years later i'm 6f1 190 now. So i don't think i'm still growing, maybe i will get another inch by the end of my 18..6'2 6'3 i think is pretty good.

just dont lift stuff over your head at that age. At that height you should be about 200, so buy protein. GNC at carrefour agrignon 51$ incl tax for Optimum 100% whey gold standard 5 lbs

Look for a true whey isolate, it's usually better qualtiy and more easily absorbed/useable by your muscles. The best brand that I have found is Whey2 (Squared). If you can find it, give IsoPure a try. It's crystalized protein (think gatorade powder) so it's extremly easy to mix on the go, especially if you only have water availible.

Why? I have heard statements against heavy squats, HEAVY deadlifts and ESPECIALLY bench press. Overhead presses are safer than lateral raises for developing deltoids anyway. Just based on the way the shoulders are put together. I am not calling BS, I just had not heard that before. Successful Olympic lifting (European) programs all start out at a very young age. Granted they do a tremendous amount of technique work early on, but they are certainly lifting huge weights overhead by the time they are 16 or 17.

I'm new to it , sorry for my ignorance, but the optimum power that 2 other members mentionned, can also be mixed, so a crystalized powder is really better than another powder??

Also, i was thinking about using this powder in a shake, or water(if it still taste not bad..)

Okay guys, to help me choose my size, I'm 6'1 190lbs 16yr old. I'm going to the gym 3x per weeks. I want to know if the rules of 1 gram of protein per lbs is true? or only for bodybuilder?

#2.Do you need to take all your proteins 1 hours after the gym or all days longs? Do you need to take the same amount the days where you don't go to gym?

#3.I eat around 30gram of protein the morning, I would do a shake with my powder which would give around 40grams + my can of beans(25gram) so that 65grams right after the gym. and supper time it will depends what my family does for supper. Does it seem right for you?

You shouldn't be trying to bulk up at that size/age assuming your body fat % is in the normal range.

is there a way to know his body fat without paying big $ to the gym guys to do an evaluation of me.

But i would rate my body fat at maybe 15-25% seeing that bobybuilder have around 7%. I always been one of the fatter guys in my team.but because of my 6'1 it doesnt look that bad...but they are here!

Cavs- I really don't like fish! and eating steak all days long would be boring after times...

Eating powder that tastes like gasoline every day would be entertaining though? :D I think one of the most rewarding aspects of gaining weight is preparing lean, high protein meals for yourself while still maintaining some sense of variety.

loll okay okay your 110% right on this one!! and i love meal, expect fish, but i can't see myselft oppening the BBQ and making a steak to myselft and not offering some to the rest of my family..(we are 5 children +2 parents) so normally i eat what is on the table. this is why i can't always eat meal...

but just to know, do you need to eat high protein every day or only the day you go to gym?

I believe everything Cavs has said is completely true.

I don't see a problem with trying to bulk up at 18, if NHL prospects are doing it, there's no reason he can't - but surely, be safe and use some common sense. I assume you're not an NHL prospect, but if you want to bulk up, go for it.

With regards to meats - you don't have to just eat beef or fish. Chicken, turkey and ham are all great sources of lean protein, as are beans and other legumes. Almonds and other nuts are also great in this regard and contain heart healthy fats. Keep in mind that there is also more than one way to cook any type of food, and that food comes in many different forms. Tired of steak? Try beef jerky - it's lean and high in protein, just watch the sodium.

If you're hellbent on using a supplement or powder, I've read that soy protein is inferior to whey (I think it was in Men's Health or Men's Fitness). Take that for what it's worth to you...

In any event, good luck with achieving your goals!

EDIT: Make sure to monitor your protein intake though - don't just stuff any protein source that comes your way. Your body can only use so much, and anything else left over, well, that just gets stored as fat.

thanks guys, I really don't want to get into any body builder(or bulk up like a beef)or anything. But i've been working 3x-4x a week(2hours each times 3 set of 12) doing cardio 30 every 2 days and some shinny hockey and yet found some good result. I Just want loose some fat on my upper body and getting a bit more strong in overall.i'm 190,maybe hitting the 195 or staying at 190 but lowering my body fat would be nice

Because right now, i feel like i'm doing all this for nothing..i just want to know that before my 6month membership i was 6'1 190lbs and after my 6 month(i could have lost 5% of body fat or i'm now 195 etc), i can see on ice that i'm stronger on my skate, or skate with less efford or have a better endurance, you see i just want to know that the time and work i did was worth it.
