Miserable

Issue With One90s

Recommended Posts

Here is an update on my son one90s, after 11 business days I got a call from LHS

they told me there going to replace my son skates in other week or so.

I am glad my son old skates still fit, I feel for those that don’t have other pair try outs for the new season have already started.

Miserable any update from your LHS?

Glad to hear it.

Not a word on my skates yet. I figured I'd give them a month before I start pestering them about it. It's only been 2 weeks since I dropped them off. I hope something happpens soon though. There's almost no blades left on my 7000s and I can't see spending money to get new blades on a pair of skates I will only be using for a sort while longer.

so does anyone know if nbh has started to fix the problem with the new skates yet?

Absolutely.

As soon as this came up, actions were kicked off to run tests and review each step in the manufacturing process to identify any steps which could play in a role in any of the problems reported.

The problems reported are not occurring on every skate. They can occur in isolated cases when a combination of factors are present. The manufacturing procedures have been tightened to reduce as much as possible the chances of those things happening. And additional Quality Control procedures have been added to test specifically for issues reported and make sure that if they do occur, they do not pass inspection and do not make it into the market.

Miserable, if I were you I would do a little pestering now to make sure things are moving along. For example, verify with your LHS that they obtained a RA number and sent the skates to a repair center and what dates these things were done. And don't hesitate to PM me if you feel you are being put in a tough spot.

Will do. I'll be up there tomorrow for a game so I will stop in and see what's what.

Thanks for the help KC.

Good on ya O-Zone to deal with this head on. I'm usually the anti-big establishment guy and I wasn't thrilled when I heard Nike bought Bauer and RBK bought CCM/THC.

Like most of us, I've been paying attention to the equipment coming out and I'm thoroughly impressed with the innovation that Nike brings to the table. This year I bought V-14 shins, in the future I see more NBH equipment in my future.

i was wondering if you dont heat them maybe this wont happen. any thoughts?

I'm not making a definitive statement on this, but I will say that I think this idea should not be dismissed so quickly. I know that with a lot of high end figure skates, heat molding often leads to premature breakdown of the boot. I think it is possible that this adhesive may partially breakdown during the heating process.

need any opinion. are these skates worht the money? are they truely what you pay for? thanks

They are awsome skates. I really liked them while I was able to wear them. I can't wait to get them back on. I don't want to chime in on being worth the money right now. As far as fit and performance go, they are worth it to me. Durability is my only concern with the skates now and it seems like NBH is working on that.

I was told my new pair will be here anyday. All I can say N/B took great care of me. Very satisfied with the service I have received. To all who are affraid of purchasing these skates because of these issues, have no worries, if there are problems you will be taken care of and I doubt they will be re-occuring. N/B is 150 % behind this excellent product.

Update:

I wasn’t as lucky as some other members with issues. Bauer will warranty my skates but the problem is that they do not have a new pair to replace them. They didn’t want to give me a pair from somewhere else and take a chance on the same issue occurring twice so I would have to wait until they manufactured a new run and got it to my LHS some time in November. Both my LHS and their Bauer rep thought that this wasn’t fair but there really isn’t anything they can do about the manufacturing time. Bauer credited back the LHS for the skates and the shop offered me a store credit, complete refund or the first pair of One90’s they got in my size.

If this was the end of the story, I would be satisfied. I’m disappointed about the skates breaking but I got my money back and I could re-purchase another pair in a month or so and chalk everything up to bad luck.

However, my story doesn’t end there. I was contacted by a couple of Bauer Employees from this board during the process. They offered to help in any way they could at the time.

Once they found out about the situation on the replacements, they told me that it wasn’t acceptable and that they would do their best to find me a pair of skates and also do anything they can to hold me over until they do.

I’d like to thank O-Zone and Skates for all of their help so far. They have both gone above and beyond the call of duty to make a customer happy. They set a very good example for NBH and how much they care about their customers.

I completely understand that things like this can happen. Issues with products don’t necessarily define a company, it’s how they deal with the issues after the fact that does. NBH has really tried hard to make me happy and correct the issue just as everyone said they would. They just won a customer for life.

I will keep everyone updated on how things go. I’m completely confident that it’s only a small matter of time before this is resolved.

Since NBH didn't want to replace your skates for fear of the problem recurring, will NBH ask stores to remove the skate from the shelves until the new run?

First, NBH was willing to replace the skates, they just didn't have my size available right now.

Second, take that portion of my post with a grain of salt. I got that second hand from the guy at the shop, not from anyone at Bauer directly.

O-zone said in this thread that it was an isolated issue with some skates that they have corrected and I've heard from a couple of shop guys on here that haven't had any issues at all with the skates so it looks lke that is the case.

Either way, they stand behind their products 100% and have really proven that to me.

I talked to guys over there and they explained where potentially things could go wrong, but I still think the problem lies at the LHS level; either too much heat or flexing of the skate when baking. I called dealers that I know who I know do a good job and are smart and they haven't reported any issues.

Just want to let everyone know I got my One90's from Skates today.

I'm very pleased with the way everything was handled and how NBH took care of me. My biggest concern was getting my skates back before a tournament in October and now I'll be ready to go.

I can't wait to get these bad boys heated and get on the ice. The only crappy part is I have to wait until Saturday for ice time.

Thanks again to everyone at NBH for taking care of this.
