Lie Question

Recommended Posts

Are there any curves that have ~5.75 lie with no rocker? Just curious as I am looking for one

not with a 5.75, but 5.5 and 6.0. but you can only get FLAT, non rockered blades from Black Beauty at retail.

not too sure about what you mean by rocker...how is the rocker on my iginla?

the fact that the bottom of your blade is rounded. that is rocker. no stick is the true lie that is stated, unless it has a flat bottom that allows that blade to sit at the lie it is made at. a rockered bottom does not allow the blade to sit flat on the ice.

Most people find that a purely flat bottom makes it more difficult to stickhandle, especially things like toe drags. It can also cause problems if the puck isn't in just the right position in relation to the body. I prefer a mostly flat bottom with just a hair of rocker.

I've been looking at the Montreal blades at my local shop. Both the Numinen (sp?) and the Euro curves come with pretty flat bottoms. True, the only pure flat blade is the Black Beauty (tried it, sold it), but the Montreals are pretty close. Both patterns are normally about a 6 lie in senior, but they also make a 5 lie. Just look for a 5 printed on the hosel.

I'm using an iginla ST right now. I would say that the rocker on that blade is slight. I like that blade, had to get used to the short length coming from a longer toe curve but it's all gravy now!
