vector shoulder pads / Bauer 4000/6000

Recommended Posts

Hi,

i just got new vector 4.0 shoulder pads. The fit is very nice. No super protection but light, very mobile and not bulky at all.

But one thing bothers me: there is a gap (about 4" wide) between the shoulder pad's biceps protector and my elbow pads (Jofa 7500 .. i think its 5K now).

Would you say a gap between sps and eps is ok or should i get new elbow pads?

In that case, wich elbow pads have longer biceps protection (and by the way longer forearm protection, too! i alway have brused forearms..)?

Are the vector elbow pads designed to go with the vector shoulder pads? So would the EP vector 6.0 solve the problem?

I have Vector 6.0 LE shoulders and elbows and I actually have overlap in that area. I just tried on my shoulders with my Jofa elbows that I use for roller and the gap is barely covered.

Maybe your elbow pads are too small for you? It could also be that the upper part of your arm is a larger porportion than mine(I have long forearms).

The only way you can tell for sure that you close that gap is to take your shoulder pads in and try the new elbows on.

That's why it's important to get shoulder pads that allow you to adjust the length of the bicep pad.

Agreed. I'm not a huge fan of the vector shoulder pads, they're soo bulky. But I'm starting to get used to the overlap and actually starting to like it. The stomach and back protection is spot on too.

Adjustable bicep pads would for sure solve the problem, but i realy like the vector sp's fit!

@TBLfan: what size are your vector pads and what size are you?

I am 180 cm and the pads are both M (Jofa: 5=M).

You realy think the vectors are bulky? I think the caps are realy low profile and mobile, at least the 4.0. what did you use before?

Ok i will try some vector 6 elbows in size M or L.

Are there any other elbow pads with longer bicep protection?

my shoulders are XL. I'm 6'1 about 230. I got them a bit big so that they covered lower on my abs and back and the L was a bit tight in the shoulders. I was a goalie so no info you can use.

It might be that the 4.0 shoulders are less bulky, I actually wanted to get those but I liked the spine protection on the 6.0 LE(the same that's on the 10.0).

It's entirely up to you a gap up there you only really have to worry about getting low to block a puck, and taking a stick. If you're not a big time shot blocker(diving all over the place blocking shots) and you're playing non- contact then I'd say that you're good with what you got.

thanks for info TBLfan!

But i think i'm going to change the vector pads for something with adjustable bicep pads.

I am searching for some less bulky pads with low profile shoulder caps but good protection in the chest and back. I looked through some older topics and some said the Bauer 4000 and 6000 have smaller caps, also the Nike V-series.

I just want to have something with smaller caps than Jofa ..

The Bauer 4000 seem to have good chest and back protection and would fit into my price-range. Can anybody tell me more about those?
