Franklin Hockey Gloves

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I just bought a new pair of Franklin 13" 4500 hockey gloves. Does anyone here wear Franklin gloves? If so, what is your opinion of them? Are they durable? I like them a lot, they feel great and appear to be well made.........any opinions?

Thanks a lot!,

Jill

I wore a pair of 9500 for quite some time and really liked them. I still have a NEW pair of 4500 that I have only used for one pick-up game. You can get them really cheap these days and they are very durable. It's all based on your personal preferance.

I loved my shin guards and pants from Franklin as well.

I had a pair of their pro gloves and I really liked them. They were comfortable and durable. The best feature was the fact that they came in half sizes.

I have wore like 4-5 pairs of Franklin gloves. I love them, I'm disappointed they aren't made anymore. I've worn 9505, several 9500 (pro), and an 8500 (pro). They're very comfortable and I've found them very protective too. Although I would say they're a little on the heavy side, but I've only worn Franklin gloves so I'm not sure if anyone would agree with me.

I've enjoyed all the old Franklin gear. I've had the pants and gloves, am still using the 9700 shin guards and the 9605 elbow pads, and still have a secret stash of 9006 blades (the Guerin patterns). I'm even still using the Franklin Sceptor OPS. They made good pro quality stuff back then, though they could hardly be called "light". I think they are a GREAT value at the closeout prices you can find nowadays. Peranis still has a bunch of stuff, and you can find the 9200 Goalie Pads at inlinesports.com for $149! If you don't need the latest and greatest gear, you can't go wrong with Franklin.

I know I am sort of bringing up an old topic, but it is better than starting a new one, no?

I have been using Franklin gloves since they have came out. 5505s, 8505s, and I currently have two sets of 15.5" 9505 Pros (one in Red/White, Red Winds Pro Return, and Maroon/Gold). I know Perani's has some R/W/B ones in 14.5", as well as Navy/Wht.

If anyone has a line on another set, any color, email or PM me.

Anyone else still playing the higher end Franklin gloves? I had a pair of 9505's that I played about six times but I gave them away to a young goalie who needed a pair when he volunteered to help coach goalies in our program.

My old pair was 14", but I just found a new pair in 13.5" and they fit perfect. There is a lot to like about these gloves. The mesh gussets are a nice air flow feature and my hands definitely don't get as slimy wet as other gloves. I also love the way the split fingers have leather stitched over the knuckle spaces. Nice little touches that make for a super nice glove. I better take care of these as I don't think I'll find new ones in the future.

I got a pair from my wife as an early Christmas present and I love them already. Franklin Pro return 9505's (NY Rangers I think) for $49.00 at Hockey World.

Thanks for the heads-up, Rick. Unfortunately not the right size/colour combination on the website.

I had the same gloves in black and white for probably 5 years. I replaced them with Bauer Vapour Xs and what a disappointment. I've played one year in the Bauers and a hole has worn in the palm already.

The Franklins were bulletproof - I replaced them for no reason, what a bad move.
