Leetch Signs with Rangers

Recommended Posts

Latest rumor is him going to Philly.

Just when you think philly can't get older or slower, signing leetch would accomplish both at once.

I like leetch also, but seriously, good puck dishing and shot, but not the legs he had

I didn't see him in Boston, but he was far from slow in Toronto. Maybe not the player he was, but definately a very capable NHL D-man.

His game was build on his skating and passing, without his skating, its not the same game.

He was great, but unfortunately, age catches up with everyone eventually, and the fact that he is still unsigned means he is either overvalueing what he has left in the tank, or won't play out west.

I think it's probably a bit of both

Is that in Boston?

The problem is all in the expectations I find. Theo didn't think he played well in Toronto, when he was easily better than McCabe who finished 4th in Norris Voting that year. He just wasn't the amazing player he was before. He didn't have the game breaking capabilities and wasn't able to dangle end to end. He could still start rushes, bring the puck up and jump into the rush. He's a smart player who knew his limitations in Toronto.

That's exactly what I am saying. You expected the old Leetch while most Leaf fans didn't, and I'd hope most Flyer fans wouldn't.

His D-game wasn't bad at all. Some genius decided to match him against Primeau, which hurt him, but his actual play and positioning wasn't bad. He just wasn't physically capable of stopping the bigger, stronger Primeau.

Then you simply didn't watch the games if you think he was walked around. He rarely if ever beat unless they were odd-man situations or he was overpowered.

Ya, the game against Philly where Quinn decided to leave him out all the time against Primeau's line. They were just manhandled by him all series long.
