Whats the story with the Mission L series?

Recommended Posts

I liked the original name for the L line..Evolution...damn Justin and his car...

The early versions looked so much better too.

I like the 2 color tongue, but not sure about the white line on the bottom. It kind of reminds me of the old Wicked Light inlines for some reason. (not that this is a bad thing) Other than that and the stitching pattern on the side (which looks too Vaporish) it's the same. (I went and got my L-7s for comparison lol)

and The L isn't meaningless - It stands for Litefit, just as the S in the S series stands for Supplefit.

Besides, it made sense to make it the "L" as they they had two lines with "letters"(and the inline stuff with "He") at the same time, bringing some uniformity. Kind of like with lots of high-end cars. They even kept the theme going with the fuels. There goes some Mission tradition for ya.

I have often thought Mission did the best job with their marketing, although I missed the "skip intro" button this year on their web site. (IMO the current Bauer website has them beat for the first time). Mission's on-line contests have been superb; hey, my daughter won an intake helmet (haven't received it yet, but it was a real thrill for her).

Again, IMO, the L-series and the S-series were not powerful branding. They'd obviously made the decision to have the Mission brand remain front and centre with that. I like Fuel as the central brand name, and I like AG and XP; it also gave them a lot of flexibility with the Are you AG? or Are you XP?

the Fuel marketing also does more to distinguish between the fit/style of skate that the two lines are designed to be, while at the same time incorporating them under one line. Most "regular" people couldn't tell you the differences between L and S in fit and function. Anyone who went to the Mission site could tell you about the differences in AG/XP.

The car correlation started with the stick colors...Bimmer Blue and Ferrari Red.
