I'm not a skate expert.

I grew up on Daoust hockey skates.

Then used Nike Ignite 1.

Then got Graf 704.

I literally did not have to break them in. Heated them once and that did it.

I love them.

I was told to get g3 skates but will wait until next year and see what the g3ultra will look like.

Where are you getting them from?

Are these the one's you're thinking of getting?

I was under the impression you were getting new ones since in Europe Graf still makes 704's.

I had a pair I used for about 3 years - loved them for comfort, but got noticably heavy if you play in a weekend tournament.. and I don't know what it was, but mine just broke down and my arches started to kill me the last two months I wore them.

That and the lightness of the XXX skates got me, water retention with 704s is something to be wary of. But if you don't play a lot of tournaments & have time to dry them out if you don't play as much, then they're a good comfy skate to have.

In a nutshell, essentially what the 735 replaced.

Full leather boot. Were very light when they were out but once they got waterlogged...

actually the 703 and 704 fit very similar. the 735 fits deeper than the 704

I knew you would chime in.

This is why I said "essentially." I know damn well it is not the same skate. But the 704 went away and the 735 took its place.

i love my 704s. i've had them for 6 years! anyway, i have tried other skates ranging from graf 709 to easton air sbx and lastly graf 705(for sale cheap on ebay, size 7.5). always went back to the 704s. i'm an intermediate skater and i love the boot and lightness. although they arent as light as they were many moons ago.

Oooh...that's my size...

Do you know how they fit in comparison to other brands?

I wear Easton Z-Airs in 7.5EE and they're a bit narrow... how wide are the Graf 705 7.5s?

Any comment about the fit compared to the 8090?

I had the 704s a while back. I currently skate in Bauer 7000s which are a bit snug in the forefoot but tolerable. The 704s were way too narrow for me. My feet actually hurt the entire next day from them. I would imagine since the 8090 is a bit wider that the 7000 according to people here that it is going to be a VERY different fit.

the 705s are a little wider and deeper than the 704. they supposedly fit the most varied of feet. check my listing under ebay if you're interested. only 50 right now. the 704 is a shallow boot which is the one thing that used to bother my feet. i'm used to them now though. i got the 705s used from a teamate and they were real nice but they felt too big. you get used to that snuglike feel with the 704s.

i always thought the 704 was like the same as 703's but stiffer and more protection...same fit though.
