First time on Mission skates - awesome

Recommended Posts

If you like a lot of forward flex, definitely go with the AG....It will take some time for you to get used to them, but once you do, you will love them.

As for roller, our boots don't come in the two diiferent types. So, I would recommend a pair of 9500 of last year skates or Wicked Three from this year.

At your size, you may need the strength of a better quality boot.

Justin, what skate would you recommend for me. I currently skate in a pair of Mission Amp 7's sz 12. I love they way they fit but they don't seem to have the lateral support I need. I am 6'3" 225lbs and play 3x a week in a rec league. I am interested in Mission skates but don't know if the AG or XP would be better for me. How would they fit compared to the Amp 7's?

Anything will be a step up from your Amp 7's....You really could go either way...I personally think the fit of the AG's is far superior to the XP....No skate fits as good as a supple fit skate. Also look for some S500/S400s on closeout....

Played my first rec league game in my S500s last night. I am definitly faster on these skates but I wiped out pretty bad going into the corner when I lost my edge. I slammed into the wall at full speed and ive got whiplash like symptoms today...yeesh.

Will setting the skates to a -1 improve my high speed turning at the expense of speed?

Update on my S500s. Ive played about 5 times since ive gotten them and the tendon guards are starting to tear as many people have stated before. Also something is rubbing my right ankle raw. It started as a small blister, then a small scab, then the scab rubbed off and it left a big whole in my ankle . So know I have a large scabby lump (yummy) on the outside of my right ankle which is EXTREMELY painful to skate with. I looked at the inside of the skate and it seem my ankle bone sits lower than the ankle pocket for the skate and the trouble spot is the stitching area where that padding is for the ankles. I wedged a blistex tube into the skate to try and push out the trouble spot... heres to hoping it helps.

The ankles are quite tight, definitly no sliding. but still i somehow manage to rub the skin right off that part of my ankle. The entire skate fits very snug.

I had a problem like this on some old skates. All I needed to do was start putting the back of my hockey socks around the backside of the skate. The finished end of the socks were rubbing between the skate and my foot. If you don't already do this, give it a try.
