Lie/Rocker, which is best to prevent cracking?

Recommended Posts

Hi i am having a bit of a dilema on deciding which curve to get for an ST blade. In the past i have cracked a few blades along the heel and bottom of the blade and i want to make sure that it doesn't happen again. I am choosing between the Lidstom and the sakic and what i want to know is, which is more likely to crack along the bottom as i hear sakic has quite a big rocker and i dont know about the Lidstrom? Also is there a massive difference between how open each curve is and does the lidstrom have any curve or is it just simply an open blade?

Thanks B)

Curve/lie doesn't have much to do with the quality of a blade. I would just look into a thicker/tougher blade..

I play on roller on wooden floor occasionally so if you dont get the right lie/rocker it can really screw up any composite blade, even a tough ST blade, that's why i was wondering whether the sakic or the Lidstrom would be better.

I'd go somewhere besides Easton if your having problem breaking blades.. I have all sorts of problems always having Easton blades go soft and slowly break and fall apart, but I've had much better luck with the Bauer Vapor XX and my TPS XN10, both have lasted much much longer blade wise for me. I never have broken one clean, be it easton or otherwise, but other brands last alot longer for me before they get too soft and start breaking or whatnot..

just a suggestion.

The Lidström does not have much of a rocker, when compared to the sakic.

The ST blade does not have more wear than any other composite blade...

It has 3 ribs, but I have seen some kids with dead ST blades. If you haven't tried the Vapor X, you should maybe take a look at that. When they were on sale, I decided to get 4. Great blades.

im pretty sure the sakic has a bit more rocker.

You might want to look into a Forsberg. not as much curve and barely open, but it has a lower lie (5). It'll probably take you a little while to get used to not having asm uch of a hook, but I have no problems picking top corners (ok, so I catch the glass more than anything) with it. Even better, you'll actually have a useable backhand.

According to the Pattern DB, the Heatley is also a 5 Lie, but again not as open as the others.

How does rocker on say the sakic affect wear on the blade compared to a lidstrom? Also does anyone have any pics of the Lidstrom or Sakic curve, preferably a right handed one?

Lidstrom has a flatter rocker than Sakic, but if you're breaking sticks at the heel a lower lie than 5.5 may be a better choice.
