Niinimaa for Ribiero

Recommended Posts

1 assist for Ribeiro already tonight. What a bad trade by Gainey. Ninimaa is having trouble and Pleckanek is not a second line center at all.

At least Habs win tonight...

Was the third bad? I only caught through the second and besides the Souray goal, Toronto was the far more dominant team. Looks like the Leafs will miss the playoffs again this season because they can't win shootouts. Great.

Kovy give Pleks a chance right now he looks like hes to worried about looking after his defensive responsiblities to try to take charge offensivly but he'll continue to get better

I wish, I wish because yesterday Samsonov was flying on the ice, Kovalev wasn't playing bad but it seems like Pleckanek can't follow them offensively. Pleckanek has good speed but it seems like he lacks some skills. I wish he'll be better next game. Sure, he's good defensively but to play on the second line you have to show some offensive.

They played like S**t (for most of the game anyway) and stole 2 points...but I'll take it.

I only saw part of the third and OT and it looked like the refs wanted the Habs to win. Kinda like the buffalo game. They have really benefitted from some big "no-calls".

I'm still trying to figure out the penalty to Tucker in OT. At least the shoot-out was entertaining.

Kosy - I want them to sign Czechmanek and cut Aubin/Telly. He's a decet back-up option in the first place and he's apperantly a shoot-out expert. They'd put'em in cold and he'd shut'em down. All 3 of our current goalies are terrible on shoot-outs. At least the shooters look better this year.

I believe Tucker was 50% in shoot-out last season while beating the goalie on most of his misses. It's too bad he hit the post because he beat Aeby on his shot.

I'd have Poni and Stajan shoot ahead of him. Poni's deke looks awful, but it ALWAYS works, he just hits the post every damn time.

LEAFS FANS, your solution for shootout is SOGLUBOV. Wake up someone. Why the hell this guy was not in the roster yesterday. Montreal is not a physical team and I thing he would have done well against them.

You must have missed Komisarek crushing Tucker ;). Actually, I agree with you, but there are a couple guys like Komisarek, Begin ect. that do play the body.

Belak did a decent job banging and crashing last night. Suggy needs a fair number of ice-time to do well. I think Pohl's better than him in the shoot-out anyways. He looks more dangerous than he is in my eyes.

I wouldn't mind Peca or O'Neill getting a chance in the next while if Wellwood, Tucker and Poni don't come around. Wellwood has no shot at all, Tucker is decent for a grinder and Poni is lost at times.

EDIT: Suglubov was hurt in the first game, Kovy.

Why are you so high on an almost 25 year old bust who can bearly crack a line up. What are they supposed to keep him in the line-up just incase theres a possible shoot-out?

Yes he did...but to Tuckers credit...he popped back up in a hurry...didn't lay there trying to draw a phantom penalty or anything. Mind you at the end the shift he took a stupid penalty when he threw down Pleky.

Considering that guys are playing longer career than ever before, 25 years old is still young. He can become an impact player.

The problem is they have to make it to the shootout and his defensive play and overall lack of effort might just prevent that from happening.

I don't see a lack in effort in Soglubov. He skates at full speed almost everytime he's on the ice. Maybe he's not the best defensively but I don't think someone like Wellwood or Sundin are either.

Welwood I can't speak for, but to say Suglobov is Sundin's equal defensively is quite a stretch. Sundin has been a plus player in almost every year of his career. As the first line center on frequently lousy Leaf teams that is saying something.

Ribeiro with 3 pts yesterday. hopefuly he will show to everybody how to play the game like he did in the Q and also to bob, who IMO made a big mistake as Niniimaa is not very good...played better yesterday thought.

Ribeiro wouldn't be the first guy to play better once he was traded out of his home town. Lots of extra pressure, I would guess, playing in your home town. Some guys would thrive others would crumble.

Hi Ak-27,

Hope all is good.

I kinda had a feeling Ribeiro was not the kind of Player that both the GM and the coach wanted on the their team.

I'm also not surprised they will probably have one of the best PK units in the league.

What are you gonna do. I heard last night that a couple of years ago Gainey didn't want Briere for $600,000/year.

I personally think Gainey is a better coach than GM. But I know the players respect Carbo so I'm still optimistic.

They said on RDS yesterday that apparently he was sent down to the 4th line in Dallas. Not sure if that's true, if so, I guess he's not as better in Dallas as he was in Montreal. He sure got 3 points yesterday but you can look at alot of players this year and wonder, how the hell did he get 3 points, lots of offence and lots of shutouts.

I saw him played yesterday on NHL Network and he played a good game. He deserved those 3 points. Kudos to Mike.
