Hockey has change, everyone is now better, bigger and faster. Put Gretzky in today's hockey with a normal team and he would be a 100 points max scorer/year. In his last career's years, when guys had start off-ice training, when they were bigger and faster, Gretzky's number had significantly dropped.

So in your mind, Gretzky is about on par with Datsyuk... as a hockey player?

In my opinion, we can't compare epoch. Gretzky has prove a lot more than Datsyuk. In my mind, Datsyuk's vision is on par with Gretzky's vision. That's it

And look out, if Datsyuk stay healthy this year, he will do easily 100 points this year and I predict him at least 70 assists and I know he is good playmaker enough to make an ¨1 assist/ game¨ average.

Wow, Kovy. His vision is on par with Gretzky's? I can't agree at all. I think in terms of vision and passing, Datsyuk is one of the best in the league. But to say he is on par with Gretzky is really really stretching it

I really don't get why people are jumping Kovy's shit over this. I didn't see the particular play in question so I can't comment on that. Regardless, I have been a huge Datsyuk fan ever since he has been in the league . The biggest attribute that people have overlooked is that early in his career, Datsyuk made Boyd Devereaux, at the very least, a decent NHLer. He is the only person I can remember who has ever done that.

Datsyuk is really underrated when compared to Zetterberg. Zetterberg has never had more points in a season than Datsyuk. I know that isn't what completely makes a player, but nobody has offered an other statistical evidence that shows the contrary.

Most of you guys are acting like complete idiots over this. You've all judged Kovy as someone who only loves Russians and French Canadians (which to be fair, seems pretty accurate). What y'all are missing is that these players are some of the very best in the world, and all Kovy has done here is comment on one of their attributes. Also keep in mind that English isn't Kovy's first language, so some of his thoughts may not come out exactly as he thinks them. Still, that doesn't make it ok for you guys to be asses for no reason whatsoever.

No one is being asses. simply pointing out the facts that kovy seems to have a thing for russian and french candian players. Liek you said. And voicing there opinions. The thing is I have seen Datsyuk played since he entered the league. You won't find a better guy to pass the puck in the puck. It's as simple as that. He's not the perfect player, but to pass the puck he's the among the top 3, the best in my mind.

But as you can't evaluate skills, you prefer mocking at things I say because you don't see them.

He has great puck skills, this is sure but he's even better to pass the puck in my opinion.

I totally agree with that. He seems to lack confidence in himself in critical situations. And he's not very physical, so that doesn't help him in tight situations.

But if I have one guy to take in the league to pass the puck on the powerplay, that would be him.

He played with Wayne for a brief period, Kovy... Not to mention the duo did not excel together as predicted because Hull's type of play was different than a Kurri who Wayne was so used to

First of all, of course you cannot compare eras, the only sport you can do that is boxing. And even then, I doubt that Rocky Mirciano would beat Mike Tyson even though Mirciano was a better boxer at his time.

Secondly. If you want to compare eras, I would like to see Bobby Hull shoot with a Warrior stick or Bobby Orr skate in some One90's.

Yeah, you're totally right. We can't compare era. The only I am saying is that put any player(eg:the perfect player) as good as he can be in the actual game and if he makes 1200-1300 through career, it will be an awesome career. The game is to tight now, everyone is in top shape, everyone is at least decent. Talent is so equal in every team. A 100 points season, now is an uncredible season. It's why I say that with Gretzky.

Another example is we won't see any teams winning 4-5 Stanley cup in arow like the Oilers did in the 80's. Stats like those are impossible in the NHL now.

Since I am a Leafs fan I also find it necessary to add that Karbele has some of the best vision from the point.
