I don't believe he's going to be there very long. He may be one of their best defensemen but it would help the team more to have his rights for the extra year.

Oops, my bad. Now I'm surprised, every "expert" said it was going to take a while for him to be ready. Now I'm convinced he's going back in a week or two. It's usually much better for a player to develop playing a lot of minutes at a lower level than a few minutes at a higher level. Then add in the contract situation and it's pretty obvious.

I like him getting in there and hope he stays. With their penchant for getting wingers that don't venture into their own defencive zone (oddly enough very Euro-heavy) they need all the help down the middle that they can.

Yeah, that's probably what it is, 10 games and Malkin is back, back down to Peterbrough he goes...or north he goes.

Pretty sure it is in the CBA, there was some discussion about a CBJ dman posibly doing that while Berard is out.

I dont think Staal will stay up once Malkin is ready..

On another note, anyone else find it hilarious that the article mentions someone could get Thibault off of waivers if they send him down lol..

And am I the only one who thinks Maxime Talbot should be playing at the NHL level, atleast for the Penguins? Every game I saw him in last year he worked his butt off every play, got a few shortie goals and tried to throw the body, but he always gets sent down.

well rumor has it, fluery can go to wilkes barre and the pens are looking to get nabokov........ i would take talbot over staal anyday. i also thought ryan stone should of made the team.

He needs another season in the OHL and probably one in the AHL before he is ready from what I have seen.

Yeah, Talbot and Stone both should be on the team over Staal, especially since they are going to be anchoring checking lines.
