First off has anyone ever heard of this type of roller hockey? I remember play a Expedition speed hockey game in Trenton NJ a few years ago. I think 2002. I have not heard anything of it since but I remember it being actually a lot of fun. Here is the Site http://speedhockey.com/ has anyone else ever heard of or played this style of roller hockey?

Last year, we were told that PIHA (Professional Inline Hockey Association) was supposed to change over to speed hockey. However, there were many complaints from the players. Finally they decided not to go with this idea. The local hockey rink, Doc, however is built for this type of hockey. It is a small roller skating rink with a sport court surface and the nets are built into the walls, similar to indoor soccer. It's a lot of fun to play recreationally, but i dont know if i would like playing competitive hockey on this type of rink.

we played it here when PIHA expanded to CO, but it didn't last real long because of the player complaints. It wasn't bad to play, but it did feel a bit more like park hockey than league play. It was the worst when we had one or no subs show up though

HMMMM!

TO MANY COMPLAINTS?!?!

Maybe if we complain to much for the new ice rules, theyll take those away too!

Dumbest response ever? I vote yes. You're really on a roll lately All Torhs Team.

I have a strong suspicion that if no one liked the new ice hockey rules and everyone complained, then they probably would change them. It's really not that complicated. If most people don't like something, it usually gets changed.

Yea I play at Doc’s Viper actually. But its not true speed hockey as the rink is not wide enough for the real rink dimensions. Its fun for just playing around but I have played tourney there and it is not as much fun as playing on a normal rink.

USAH is not going to change the new standards. College and professional teams want players who will be able to play under the NHL style enforcement standards that they play under. Why would they want players to learn under a system that allows all of teh crap that they eliminated?

That's true. I would much rather play on a full size rink. I do enjoy playing tournements at doc's though. It's a good way to go have fun with your friends, and it was even better when the Yinglings and yoders would play. I miss those days...lol

Speed Hockey on a regualr rink isn't that much fun for most either sometimes, so it really doesn't matter the size it's the flow and setup of the game. CJ and Brian Yingling tried to get it going here, but there were too many people griping so the owner axed it after a few leagues. I personally liked it when full lines would show up and we could play hard the whole time
