Guest kup99

Hey Gang....Newbie...so please forgive.. I've got a pair of one90's (7.5D) and I really like the fit and the weight (lack of), but I've been told that these things suck rocks when it come to durability!! Can those who have these, or know of poeple who do please leave some feedback with their experiences with the skates.. obviously these skates are big $$ and I don't want to have to relace them in no time as I HATE breaking in new boots... I am into these skate for $400 CAN, but I still want them to be worth it..

Please HELP,

Darren :D

$400 for a sr skate is about 1/2 price so you certainly got a very good deal. Have had no issues with durability.... they are a very good skate.

i've only heard of a handful of 0ne90's having durabillity issues, i know a few people who have had them for months and they are in just as good of shape as ever.

Thanks.. keep the revews coming.. my local shop says that the soles keep peeling away on the boots... also when I went to get the profiled they said that I had blade tilt, and that 22 of the 24 pairs that had been brought to them had the same problem..

also what is you opinion on having skates heat molded...i've heard that it really causes skates to wear prematurly

Thanks for the help, and keep it coming

and the heat molding thing, maybe one of the pro shop guys can better clarify for you but from what i've read, the one90's need to be heatmolded to get the full benefit of performance out of them. The only way heat molding with weaken the skate is if you do it to often. Right?

once again not sure, but i think every skate has a differnt amount of times it can be molded, like i'm pretty sure i remeber seing some say one90's can be baked 3-4 times, but i'm not sure, maybe you can do a search and see what you find that or ask JR he seems to know more about this stuff than anyone else.

I am a dealer, amongst other things.

I have not encountered the problems that others, including guys on this website, have.

I've had the skate earlier than most and I haven't had any problems at all.

where do you deal out of...hehe... seriously where are you??

I know JR can answer this for himself, but if you click on his username you can see he lives in Michigan.

there is no real debate, you have a great set of skates and you shouldn't be worried about anything going wrong with them until it happens.

O.K. all.. thanks for the discussion and advise... after receiving an email... stating that I am making a rear end of myself by asking the questions that I am (obviously you know the word I was really called) and being told to do my own research on the skate/heat fitting because you have all discussed it to death, I would like to offer my thoughts..

Perhaps I read the old posts about this topic and am wondering if anything NEW has developed over the past bit... also if any new problems of opinions have been made in the meantime. I have attempted to have 4 pairs of Nike/bauer skates profiled and everyone has come back with needing alignment of the blades or blade tilt... the same shop has also told me about 5 pairs that have the sole peeling from the boot too.. I also know that this is a breakthrough skate, but we all know that things can be rushed through production and can have many problems when they hit the market (microsoft x-box 360 to name one). It seems that someone thinks that I have offended JR somehow, and I am sorry if I have JR, but I am only trying to learn more about the product which is why I made the post to start with.. you seemed very knowledgable about the skate, so I wanted to ask what you did to learn more about you... and where you were coming from...sorry for that apparently that is a no no too..

To all those who have contributed in a positive manner thank you I appreciate it.. to those who continue to contribute thanks in advance.

Sorry to rant, I just don't appreciate being called an idiot for no reason.

Where is this shop that has so many bad skates.....I find it rather funny that they have so many bad pairs and the stores like the ones I work for has had one out of many many pairs. I am pretty sure we recieved the most pairs out of any company in Canada and only one bad pair.....so how is it that your local store has 22 out of 24?

kup99,

relax and skate!! I have been using ONE90s since May 1st. The boots are strong and their durability is just as strong. In my shop, we have not had 1 pair returned for the sole issue. This seems to have been an isolated problem with a limited production run at some point. The issue has been dealt with at St Jerome by the NBH people making the skates. I would also like to know where this shop with all the problem skates. For guys like myself in shops it helps to know if the shop is in Canada or the US. Get the skates baked. Even if it costs you for the baking, you are not taking full advantage of the boot technology until they are baked.

DarkStar50: Thanks for the reassurance in the skate.

The shop I am talking about is in Calgary Alberta Canada. It is a skate sharpening place called Calgary Blades... they do a lot of sharpening for the pros and do custom profiling...they have said that most of what they have seen from NBH is poor alignment of the holders..blade bend...sole peeling off the boot...etc...that's why I made the post to ask the question....

JR...Don't get upset... I was trying to pay you a compliment by saying you are very knowledgable

Thanks for the advise guys.. I appreciate it....
