I have a chance to pick up some Bauer 7000 skates-probable 2002 model year brand new for $150.00usd. I need to retire my current skates. I know these skates are stiff-no problem. I am concerned with the liner-it is like a black felt instead of clarino. I like to skate barefoot. Please give me some info and some personal experience. Thanks.

I used to have those skates. The liner is the Hydrophobic black or synthetic leather depending on which year run of the skate you are looking at. The skates are so solid, Just don't expect them to break in any time quick. I skated in mine for a month or so 4x a week until they really felt broken in

I wear my 7000s with no sock. Lots of smell, no problems.

Baking the skates will take care of breaking them in. 9 mins at 179f as far as I remember. The black gripliner lining is cool. In fact lots of NHLers still prefer it. I woudldn't skate without socks though.
