Sherwood Momentum XD shaft

I've read a few posts where more than a few of you had some pretty unkind things to say about Sherwood shafts and composites. What exactly are the issues with Sherwood shafts? I would like to know, because I was seriously thinking about a Momentum shaft with a 950 Spezza blade, and using my 5030 Spezza's as backups. What's the deal?

I just got mine in the mail... I haven't used a 2 piece in a long, long time... and even then- it was for dekhockey. I play recreational ice hockey, so I'm sure mine won't take a beating.

It just took me a bit to get used to the 2 piece, then the glue cracked and the blade started to rattle... but other than little things like that, I love the shaft itself... it's got nice pop to it, and it's decent to shoot with. At $85 on hockeymonkey, it's a decent deal.

<_< .. whatever. I've been using sher-wood composites now for the last year and a half (can't let go of the coffee curve), skate 3 to 5 times a week and have never had a durability issue... ever.

ok, what kind are you using? the XD or another king? because I don't think you can get coffey curve on the XDs.

Thats a personal experience, not a par for the course thing that will happen to every XD shaft.

I can't do a slapper (unless whiffing and slapping my arse on the ice as I fall counts) and don't have a strong snapshot yet either. I still take an old wood stick I got about a year and a half ago to the rink with me, and its still going strong, so I doubt I would be shattering an XD after 2 times, unless I fell on it

EDIT: I am an avid fan of the coffey curve.. should be illegal its so good. The only thing you cant get a coffey curve on is their goal sticks.

yup.

Its a very popular curve. Either you use it or you hate it. I get all kinds of snide comments in game when I use my coffey.. they can go to hell :)

^^ sorry ak... didn't mean to come across as an ass. posts above should answer your question. i'm currently using the comp shaft with the xd blade. again, it's all personal preference and if you've personally had a bad experience then i apologize..

I have been using is for both USAhockey league games and ACHA for years now without a comment from anybody about it being illegal.
