They say hes in stable condition. It looked pretty bad though. BUt there was a camera on him in the hospital and he looked fine.

They show it in the game recap clip on TSN....it looks bad, but he looked pretty calm when they were bringing him to the ambulance. He got lucky...it could have been way worse.

I just saw a brief clip of it. How long was he on the ice for, and was there blood on the ice?

That was such a flook that the skate caught'm, just a matter of being in the wrong spot at the wrong time.

With the 'hawks luck recently, I'm surprised it didn't take his head clean off.

UPDATE: Now expected to be out 3-6 weeks after surgery.

Not even close.

I was at the game in the first row next to the Hawks bench.

There was no blood on the ice, no blood squirting everywhere, no stretcher on the ice.

He got cut went to the bench with his hand on his neck. They cleared the way for him to go to the tunnel where a trainer put towels on it. He was there for about 30 seconds then walked back to the locker room where he was put on a stretcher and taken to the hospital (about 1.5 miles) via ambulance.

Nobody on the ice knew what happened and the Hawks had to stay on the bench for an extra minute during the intermission because this happened at the very end of the period.
