Yes you can overheat a shaft. One time before a game one of my teammates was going taking the blade out of my backup shaft to use and he overheated the shaft and the firstlayer bubbled up.

i just mean overheat to the point the blade won't come out. because this is kinda ridiculous that i can't get it out. i've changed countless blades before.

what kind of glue do you guys use? I slowly pour hot water over the end where the blade goes in and then just pull the blade out. Works every time..

i think this blade was pre-glued on the end. but maybe i'll try the hot water thing. not boiling, right?

I Know a guy who heat his shaft to the point where the blade didnt come out, but did take that part of the shaft with it, ripped straight off.

I cant see how overheating it would prevent it coming out if thats what your thinking. Get someone to slowly put ill and make sure you heat all round the shaft where the blade is

boiling water might work even better. I use hot water straight from the tap..

It helps to have a pair of gloves with good grip.

1. Hot water for a few minutes

2. Wipe the water off

3. Pull as if your life was on the line.

i use a heat gun and i have never over heated a shaft, i just keep trying to pull it out and keep reheating until the blade comes out, i always thought it would be better to under heat and try again than over heat, i mean it does say on the shaft do not over heat.

You can hold MOST (not necessarily all) heat guns on a composite shaft for a good amount of time without any damage. The only thing I don't like about my cyclone is removing blades since it seems to be tighter than any other shaft I've had. It helps if you have someone else to pull on the blade while you're heating the shaft. Be sure to rotate the shaft 1/4 turn every 10-15 seconds so that you evenly heat it up.

I know you're not supposed to do it, but I use my stove pretty often as well, and when all else fails, I've used a torch. You need to be very careful with the torch, however, as it can scorch the shaft easily.

Make sure the coast behind you is clear too. I got elbowed cos some idiot forgot to take notice of me when I was doing maintenance work at the rink.

It sounds to me like you guys use to much glue..

I allways peel off all the glue that comes with the blade. Then i use sandpaper to get a smooth surface so the blade glides in to the shaft without use of force.. Then i put on a small amount of glue with a gluegun and shove the blade in to the shaft..
