Warrior OPS VS. Warrior Two Piece

Recommended Posts

I was looking into getting a new stick, and I think I am going to get a Warrior stick. The problem is I wanted a 75 senior flex (I'm then going to cut it a little) and ideally wanted to get the Dolomite because of price and other good reviews of it. Unfortunately the OPS is only an 85 flex, but the shaft with blade combo has a 75 flex with the same listed weight. I was curious to know what the difference will be like, and if it is worth spending the extra money to get a 75 flex Senior Mac Daddy.

You are in a nearly identical situation to the one I was in. I owned the Dolomite OPS in 85 flex and absolutely loved it. The only problem was it was slightly stiff, and all 5'8", 150 pounds of me couldn't quite get the whip I wanted out of it. So, I picked up the 75 shaft and the blade, and to be honest, performance wise, I can't tell a difference at all, and neither should you since the Dolomite OPS isn't actually a true one-piece but rather a fused shaft/blade. The only difference I can feel is the little extra twinge on snappers and slapshots I wanted because of the 75 flex.

OPS vs 2 piece dolomites with the same flex are identical.

dolomite vs macdaddy is basically going to have a difference in shaft shape, and the mac daddy is a little more pingy b/c it's a true one piece.

I have a Dolomite OPS and a Dolomite shaft with a warrior taper blade. I think the only difference is that a OPS is noticeably lighter.

Performances appears to be about the same.

For years, Inno had said that there was zero differences between the OPS and the shaft/blade combo. I didn't expect that to change.

The fact won't change but I can easily see their position on it changing.

JR, not sure if you've seen the two. But did you not notice the difference in the shaft construction and the weight difference?

Like i said i didn't really notice a huge difference except in weight. But I think that might affect performance cause the combo is more blade heavy then the ops.

They are most likely saving the weight by using a shorter tenon in the OPS. I chiseled out one a week ago and I cut it at the the fuse point and cut 1/2" after and it all popped out.

My comment was because Inno said they had introduced the OPS version of the 1100 strictly on convenience for the NHLers.

Vash, is the weave on the blades the same? My dolomite has the checkerboard (prepreg blade, but my vapor XX (essentially an 1100) is a regular carbon weave type (RTM construction) and the XX is noticeable more blade heavy than the dolomite.

for anyone that has used both the tapered inno /warrior shafts and the standard ones, do the tapered torque open like the standard ones do? I like the shatfs except for that issue.

Yep the weave on the two blades are exactly the same. The taper blade to me appears more durable because I was able to take the blade out of the OPS and compare. But to me it looks pretty much the exact same thing.

The MacDaddy is similar in construction as well as shaft shape to a XXXLite.

the original Vapor XXX was made by innovative, the company that was bought by warrior to produce their sticks. The Original Vapor XXX and the MacDaddy are essentially the same stick.

similar but not the same. I had a winnwell g500 (xxx overrun) and now a macdaddy. IMO the mac daddy has better balance and better feel, lighter too. Although I think the way the winwell's blade was painted may have contributed to the loss of feel.

Theyre the same thing for all intents and purposes. Hell, sometimes the blades come loose on the OPS, and you heat it and pull it out and then put it back in with more glue to cinch it all up. Youll end up with the same thing either way, so get what you want.
