New Graf Ultras for 2007

Recommended Posts

Yea, the new boots look pretty sweet, and I have heard lots of good things compared to the supra G skates. Hopefully I will hear back on my custom ultra G3s soon...if not, then will have to wait for a retail version...however long that will take. -_-

Can someone please tell me the difference between the OLD g5s and the NEW g5s???

Thanks

Does anybody have the real nitty gritty details on what's different with the new Ultra G's over the Supra G's?

I've searched and searched, and all I find is "the new one has improvements" and "the new one is constructed differently." These answers aren't geeky enough for me.

The Ultra Line has an actual composite outsole, not the fake one used on the G line, which chipped away very easily and was also prone to becoming de-laminated in the early batches. The Ultra line uses a different upper as well, it's considerably lighter than the Teclite of the G line. The Ultra uses the Cobra Ultralight 5000 holder with solid steel instead of the 3000 holder and perf steel found on the G's. Tongue on the Ultra's is made out of foam and is much shorter and thicker than the felt of the G's. The liner of the Ultra's is a new mesh like material. Not sure how in depth of a response you were looking for.

The new liner feels like it would be scratchy and uncomfortable, however, I have found it to be very nice while walking around the house. The tongue is really thick too (bonus for me). Alas, it's too early to tell if they have fixed the durability issues present in the Supra G5. When I got these skates there was obvious slackage in the manufacturing process. That might have been due to shop wear while putting the TUUKS on. Hopefully I'll heal well enough and resume skating for the first time in 6 months to give an update on the durability factor.

I have had my ultra5s for about two months. I also put the powers on them, but does it void warrenty on the but because my sole is coming apart off of the boot.I like the skates not as stiff as my 90s but its like apples and oranges. Should i put my cobras back on before i send them in? The liner is also tearing at the heel, and its wierd cause they fit perfect a little hard to break in. The retailer shoud have to compensate me, right

I believe if you switch the holders on the skate, it voids the warranty.

More soles delaminating is not what I want to hear, as a guy who's considering picking these up.

Anymore updates on this skate series? I am now leaning towards going with the 700 series because of all the durability issues w/ the ultras.
