Best fit, closest to bauers

Recommended Posts

I did a little searching in the forums, but I just wanted to know what skate brands fit the most like Bauer. I just want to know my other options, as I like the way Bauers kinda already have a forward ?flex? in the ankle. I'm guessing Nike is close. CCM made me feel like I was skating to upright. I would go to a LHS, but I have no option being there is not any, so I have to order everything online. Thanks in advance

I think Kor Shift 1's provide excellent performance. I have never worn a skate that turns as sharp or as effortlessly as Shift 1's. I went from Pro Tacks to the Kors and it was like night and day in terms of fit, feel and responsiveness. An analogy would be like the difference between having minivans on my feet (the Pro Tacks) compared to Porsche 911's (The Shift 1's) - at least for me it was that abrupt of a difference.

Plus - you get the benefit of an extremely form fit boot and the Shift 1's are priced well right now. I know a few guys on here had some issues with hot spots - but I have had zero problems.

Another plus is the Mission Pitch Holders that allow you to adjust the pitch.

Just a choice to ponder that is a little different than the Easton/CCM/Bauer route.

I guess I was refering to a classic bauer fit. I have just liked the way ALL bauers fit, both vapor and 8090. I just want that that forward flex out of the box. The CCM's felt I was in an ankle cast.

There is no way Vapors and 8090s both fit your foot well.

I've always been one to cram my foot into a boot, I like a tight fit. As far as the vapor/8090 goes, you're right, one was more comfy than the other, but I mainly want that forward flex, as I skate with very bent knees.

If I'm used to skating in classic bauer supremes, How would the vector pro's feel, other than stiffness? Would the toungue and shape of the boot allow for some good forward flex without having to keep them as loose as my ex? I had heard that the vector pro's had a completley different fit than traditional bauer. Thanks.

What Chadd is saying is not regarding comfort of the 2 skates. Vapors and 8090 are not for the same foot shape. Vapors run a little more narrow. 8090's are built on a wider last and higher volume foot (they fit deeper).

Seeing as you can't go to a LHS I would strongly suggest you go with what you know..Bauer! I agree with the comments on the 8090, I havent had much expereince with its replacement the ONE90, does anyone on here have comments comparing these two skates fit and performance wise?

The one90 is NOT a replacement for the 8090. They fit nothing alike outside of the fact that both skates in a D are slightly wider than the XXX.

i've had no problem going from Supreme 3000(2e) to Vapor6(2e) and now on to CCM 852(d) and CCM 1152(d).. Going from Tuuk's to prolites was the hardest bit because of the different pitch..

Alright, after tons of reading, I finally understand what you ment Chad. I fit the 8090's fine because of the "deeper" fit. So are the 1152 Tacks that much more shallow of a boot? I'm guessing that is why I felt that there was no forward flex?? Can you confirm what I had read that the Vector Pro fits deeper?

Maybe here in the next day or 2 I will post a pic of my foot and see if you guys could give me an idea of what shape foot I have like somebody has done a while back. Not having a shop anywhere near is a real bummer. TIA.
