CCM Vector 3.0

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I just ordered sr. CCM Vector 3.0 skates.

I was trying to select between Bauer Vapor VI, but they seemed a little narrow for me (even though my feet size is regular). I also tried to compare them with CCM Tacks 492 and decided on Vector 3.0 since it's a newer model.

I need them to get up to speed in my skating then continue with playing.

Does anyone own a pair of those? What can you tell about those skates?

Thanks

Hope your doing a lot of pond skating cause thats about as much as good those things are worth. The Vector 3.0 will break down in no time and lose its support. If your looking into a decent hockey skate i wouldnt have gone anything below the Vector 6.0. My shop sells the SR for 199 and the JR for 139. To me thats a pretty good price for a mid level boot.

i had a friend that started with 3.0s, they lasted him 2 seasons before he took a shot off the holder that put a gaping hole in them.

Haha, might not be so good asking the MSHers :P

I suppose they're alright. I had a pair of CCM 2.0's way back and they were er... alright. Just depends on what you think of them and how you treat them really. They won't compare with a mid to high level skate but since you haven't tried any of those yet, I'd say make the best outta your new skates.

if your just using them to learn to skate, then go for it, there a cheap option to get you into skating, once you get more serious about it, you might want to get a skate with a bit more support.

Apart from that man, have fun.

Thanks for feedback.

Yes, I pretty much got them for my starter skates. My main objective now is to get up to speed with skating, so I feel comfortable to jump into the game.

I don't know exactly how long will it take me to get my skating skills to where I want them to be. Maybe half a year of practice.. Hopefully they last me.

I will update my experience once I get them and try them out.

I understand your reasoning, but if you are going to play any hockey, I would recommend against any skate that does not offer decent protection for your foot. You only get one pair in your life, so you need to take care of your feet. If the Vector is your choice, start with the 6.0

I got my Vector 3.0.

I like it so far. It's my second time on ice with them. My ankles start hurting after an hour+ of skating, but I think it's because I re-tie skates. Plus it's my 5th time on ice after 13-15 years :)

However, I already feel pretty good on ice. Making a progress every time I go.

I think in 3-4 months I will be in a good shape.

The only thing I can add is that I should have bought maybe next model, because it has stainless steel blades. This makes a difference.

Guys,

I have an update.

I skated in Vector 3.0 3-4 times. They sucked, there's hardly any support in them. I hurt my inside ankle in them. I mean left boot kept on pressing it hard on my inside ankle where tongue and 3 lace holes are...

I sold those skates and got me CCM e60 (it's 2-3 year old model) I had a great occasion. I can tell that those skates are really different from Vector 3.0.

I was able to feel more stable. Stopping in those skates became much more easy.

Blades are stainless steel and keep sharp way better than Vector's 3.0.

However, I still have problems where left skate hurts inside of my ankle, the side that's more close to where end of the tongue and 3 lace holes are. It bruises it up, it doesn't give me a blister, just pushes on it really hard. I skate normally for 2 hours, practicing moves etc. Maybe I skate too long? Anyone else been experiencing such problems?

Thanks

Maybe your skate problems are due to them fitting wrong, not the quality/model of the skate? Did you have them fitted at the shop by someone who knew what they were doing?... Two hours isn't too long to be skating if your skates fit right, you're in good enough shape to go that long, and you have somewhat decent technique (maybe you need to work your way up to a longer session if you haven't been on skates in a long time).

I realized that my ankle bone on the left foot a just a bit bigger than the right one. I don't have a problem like this one the right one.

It pushes on my bone where the tongue overlays it.

Yes, a friend of mine owns a hockey shop. I tried almost all the models they are out there. Like for example Bauers all quite narrow and stiff in the ankle area, I could feel it right on. My e60s were OK and reebok 9K were OK. But I don't need pro skates at the moment. I should admit Nike V-ti boot felt really good, like a recreational skate, but quality was not there.

I think what I'm going to do is try an ankle cushion of some sort for my left ankle and see how it goes. This should take some pressure off of it.

Maybe something like this

or just a circle...

I need to search the web.
