1st post and ya it's a skate qusetion..

Superfeet and a size 7 2E XX would do the trick. Or try a 6.5 then a 7 2E in a XXX.

No matter what any of these skates that are mentioned you will need A. the right length and B. the arch support as mentioned earlier.

I'm glad you think that my feet are super… :D

There is a 8.5 EE Mission S5000 on clearance. Do you think the Fuels would be worth twice the price? If you think the Misson is right for me what Mission size?

Is there another skate that I should look at?

I'm not sure what “superfeet†means but I’ll do a search here….

I do want to try something drfferent that the XX's

I would pay full price if I could be confidante that it is worth the money

above a clearance skate.

Thanks

Ummmm well the easist way to solve this problem is for sure get a new pair of skates but lets see what kind of feet you have because the Bauers are way to big. A 42 is an 8.5 skate and if you have an 8.5 shoe then you should be atleast a size 7 XX.

If your going Mission and your foot is wider at the front it will feel as bad or worse than your skates do now just now your toe area will be hurting. We need to focus more on the shape of your feet first before going for a certain skate and brand.

I am away from home and had my wife read the tag to me off of my XXs

I had her read it again and she said it was very clear that that is what is printed on the tag.

She told me that is was a US 9, Eur 42.5, UK 8 and a CM 27….

Looking at a skate sizing chart the Eur and UK match with my shoe size of 8.5. But the US should read 7.5 if refering to the skate?

Any chance of explaining this to me… They do not feel way to big…. Thanks

Skates aren't sized the same as shoes... they typically run a full size to 1 1/2 sizes smaller than your shoe size. An easy way to tell how your current skates fit is to pull the insole out and stand on it. As you are currently away from your skates... maybe your wife could pull them out and check how much distance there is from your sweaty toe-prints to the edge of the insole.

If the skates are too big, this could definately translate as pain in certain areas rather than a sensatio of the skate feeling too big.Even though your foot may not be sloshing around, it is improperly positioned. If the skate is too shallow for a high arched foot, your foot is esentially sitting "too high" in the boot ( if you can visualize that) and could cause pin on your ankle area. But as hockeymom says,if the skate is the same as your shoe size, it would be way too big.

The tag in the skate says EUR 42.5, which according to the chart I have is correct. I don't understand what the US 9 on the tag means. If it refers to the skate size it is wrong.....

The measurements of my foot should let me know where to start. I’m not sure how the D,E,EE would be better for me. I need to find the corresponding skate width for my 3 13/16th inches across the ball of my foot.

Maybe OTG will be able to shed a little light for me on the subject.

As of now the S5000 is looking like the best bag for the buck. I’m guessing size 8.5D or 8EE…. Hmmmmm the drama continues….

Thanks again every one.

I've also read that if a boot doesn't have the arch support you require, it will push your arch down when tightening them, and in doing so, push your toes closer to the end of the skate (thus you need more length). With arch supports such as superfeet, your toes will not be pushed forward, and you'll see that the skates are too big.

btw, on my vapor XXs, it has a tag that has both the skate size (10) and shoe size (11.5)

Are there site sponsors here to see if they have the superfeet? I've seen a lot of reference to Hockey Giant/Monkey…

This site doesn't have sponsors or advertising. Your best best is to see if your LHS carries Superfeet. Or perhaps Mack might be able to tell you who carries them in his neck of the woods... er, area... of Alaska. That way you could avoid the obscene postal charges.

as for the sizing they may not feel to big but as HM has pointed out take the outsoles out and see where your toes are imprinting I bet my last dollar there atleast 2 sizes to big which would tell me that Mission being narrower than the XX is not the right skate for you. I would look a Nike or Graf and or see if you can find a Vector Pro in a size 7 D.

I wear a 9 shoe and just got RBK 9K in a 6.5 D and punched out the sides to fit. With the SuperFeet Insole they were great the first skate on them. Infact scored the first goal. (well it wasnt really in but it was for charity).

OTG,

Thanks for your help, Do you think that the S5000 in a 8.5 EE would be as good of an option? I like the idea of the forward flex.

I looked at the Graf and they claim they have a skate for every foot type. Which Graf model would you think would be the best for me?

It makes sense now about the XXs I have. When I first got them, I remember that I was fighting them so much (and still do a bit). They seemed as though they were pushing me back all the time.

I don’t know why I did not try and solve the problem long ago.

Would you also suggest the superfeet reguadrless of which skate I get?

Thanks OTG.. you tha man

I would start with the 3 series of skates 703 G3 possibly and Easton but yes Superfeet would be required in almost all I believe.

Found two places where the Supra G3 is $519.00 (US). The 703 was $399.99 (US).

I'm going to check the local shop in town here...

I'd rather spend the extra money and get what is best for my feet.

You may not need the superfeet with Grafs. If you feel good, why rock the boat? And you may also want to try the 705's said to fit 70% of the population.

Called Champions today in Anchorage and they must be off for a long weekend.... no answer.

Tune in tomorrow same time, as the quest for a pair of skates continues….

Ok hummm lets check these statments out.....

May not need superfeet in Graf's?

Well if he has a high arch which I say he does.....then why not?

Graf has lowered there arch in all models so thats wrong.

705 fit 70%....then why does Graf make so many models so they can fir only the other 30%???? And if he did take a 705 then he would need a superfeet insole because there FLAT.............

Well then I take back that second part.....However I wouldnt put 70% of my customers in 705 I personally feel that the tighter the fit the better and the 705 when broken in/down goes faster then most other Grafs. And IMO it was because it was really not the correct skate to start with as it was to wide or to deep.

That is my opinion on fitting Graf at retail for 9 years. Now for anyone fitting longer please feel free to throw in there 2 cents as I dont mind being proven wrong at all.

One other Question Chadd as I had said this is new information to me is that going by sales numbers (ie: numbers of 705 sold) or by how Graf or the Rep you heard that from feels? Just a wondering.....

OTG,

Before I order the Supra G3 will you please confirm my size from my measurement?

Graf Supra G3, size 7 D, or was that just the Vector Pros size? With the superfeet.

I'm guessing that if I order them across the border (what about NAFTA?) there will be more cost and delays. Plus my credit card charges an exchange fee now.

My option would be to order them from HockeyMonkey or HockeyGear. Do you know or recommend anywhere else to get them from?

There is a store in Anchorage (360 miles away) but I have not been able to talk with them. I don't know if the have them and what sizes they have in stock.

I would like to have them before next Wednesday game.

Now for the measurements…

From the tip of my longest toe to the back of my heel …. 10 3/16 th inches

Widest part of foot (across the ball of the foot)…. 3 3/16th inches

Widest part of heel 2 5/8th inches

From the bottom of my foot to the mid ankle bone on the inside is 3 ¼ inches (this is where the pain is).

OTG, From the mesurements of my foot would you please tell me which size Supra G3 to buy? Sorry to ask for so much free help from you

Who do you recommend I order them from?

Thanks
