Guy Incognito 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2007 I'm aware it's all PP (personal preference), but I'm curious how many of you alter your gloves and pants. I have a friend who is a friend of some of the players and equipment management staff for the Columbus Blue Jackets. He said all of them have told him that the little pad that sits on top of your hand in your glove (the one that pulls out) should be cut out for more freedom of the wrists. Also, he says that the pad just behind the laces on your pant (in front of your junk) is also removed by all of the pros because it serves no purpose... by cutting it out it allows more bend at the waist. Not sure I want to question the equipment manufacturers testing/research.What are your thoughts? Monty22 835 Report post Posted January 11, 2007 I've seen the pad you are referring too cut out of a lot of the used pro stock gloves I have come across. I don't personally see a need for it, but to each their own. Removing the spear guard from pants seems especially pointless. I have never felt constricted by mine. fatwabbit 93 Report post Posted January 11, 2007 never really felt the need to modify any gloves or pants. maybe a little more freedom in the gloves, but thats about it... maybe that's why i'm just a rec player, and not a pro
jmiro 55 Report post Posted January 11, 2007 i have cut the pads out of gloves and did some mods to cuffs. I never removed any thing from my pants. I know how that last one sounded.
DamnLocust 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2007 the pad just behind the laces on your pant (in front of your junk) I've always wondered what this thing was all about. We were actually talking about it at our last game. Removing the spear guard from pants seems especially pointless. and now I know. thanks.as far as cutting out the part of the gloves, I've never liked doing it because I don't like the feel of the seams of the glove against the back of my hands. A friend of mine did it to his Eagles and I tried them on and wasn't impressed. I've never done it myself, and haven't seen it in a long time, but all the cool kids used to cut their cuffs open on their gloves back in the day.
All Torhs Team 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2007 I;m not sure about taking out cuff gaurds but I took out my thumb gaurd. It slid right out of the thumb area. I think its different then what your talking about.
Lester8 11 Report post Posted January 11, 2007 The pant flaps are there to keep things from getting caught in the laces, and to prevent the laces from shredding your base layers. They also cover the gap so the pants look fully closed even when they're not, so they serve an aesthetic purpose, too. Moving the flap aside makes bending over a little easier, but the belts still hold me back. I don't use laces so I can dress faster, but I'm leaving the flaps in so the belts don't shred my shorts.
