The Webster

Beckham to LA Galaxy

Recommended Posts

Well that's the socioeconomic reason but I think the fact that most people just don't have the patience to "learn" how to watch hockey. Then again, if America can tolerate watching baseball on TV than there's a chance they can tolerate this boredom.

He's been over rated his entire career.

He takes large chunks of games off, has no heart, can't play physically.

He is without doubt one of the greatest passers/free takers ever, but thats where it ends.

I would take Maradonna now, on one leg, even with his coked up heart over beckham.

Maradonna paid a physical price, played with passion gave it all every game, had vision the likes of which will never be seen again.

Beckham has a good pass, take that away, he is an average player, which is why he could not get a regular starting gig at Real

LOL this is not hockey man.

becks' a unselfish player and a hard worker. best dead ball specialist and corners in most pundits minds. he has great vision and creativity and pen taker. the biggest problem with this guy is he has no pace at all in the beginning, now his old his even worse off. take a look at some of his games in the champions league when he was with man utd, abs brilliant player.

but man oh man did i hate him when he was with man utd, being a gooner and all. this move to LA is really disapointing, not even a chance of winning any euro cups or anything for that fact. going to LA for the fame and fortune, trying to take it easy from there.

oh please...it can never take the place of hockey...

you guys have a stanley cup run every year.... world cup is only once every 4 years...

dont think that it would really really catch on, unless the US win the world cup soon ;)

Beckham has been purchased more for the revenue in sponsorship and endorsements than as a football player, same with Madrid. he does have his moments on the pitch, and thats all it will be in LA. If people expect him to dominate, they will be in for a shock.

There is no doubt his impact off the field will be 1000 times his impact on the field. I have been an FC Dallas season ticket holder for the last couple of years and this move excites me to no end.

Mehhh, we'll see. I think Capello's probobly giving him a little push on the move, I don't think he was so keen on picking an older player playing at a lower level compared to the up and comers in the prem. This will afterall be Becks last WC so I imagine it's alot more to do with that aswell then just "I'm having fun." That said England don't have a hope in hell of winning anything Fabs or not. I'd love to have a clear out of some of the names that make the squad year in year out. Being successful at club level isn't a free ticket to the international scene, if they can't hit the side of a barn door they should be booted for a better fitting player. Lampard I'm looking at you.

Most prob its also pressure from the wife to live in a more 'upmarket' capital. I remember that she made life hell for Becks when he was playing for Real Madrid.
