Jofa cages from back in the day

Recommended Posts

I like the Jofa 271 cage from an asthetic standpint, but not for $50+ (used) as I've seen them go on eBay. Why are these cages so overjocked and overpriced? Anyone rock this? How are they? Jofa/CCM should bring them back, although the FM480 is probably the upgrade.

I've never really been a fan of jofa helmets and cages, or those stupid cats eye player cages for that matter. I like the 480 and would love to try the truvision but I have a thing about having a bauer cage(the logos bother me) on my CCM bucket, it's a little OCD thing of mine. I agree with you though, it seems that many people like the look/fit of them so they should bring them back.

the cage is money. the holes are big and the cage is thinner than most. these things are so soft though, im pretty sure theyre actually illegal now too. but that bubble shape is sick and the fixed chin cup doesnt move all around on you

the "dangler" as its refered to here, is extremely sought after. Its kinda become a tradition that when the SRs graduate, they pass them down to the underclassmen.

Its actually a little dangerous. The sides of your jaw arent covered at all, and EVERYTIME i get even just bumped, my helmet comes up and my face is exposed. Sight out of it is a dream tho.

I have one of these masks, I recently switched over to a shield but I used it all through high school. It's a great looking mask but offers no protection whatsoever. This cage is all about the low hang look, especially in college (see BU, Maine and pretty much every elite college team)

I actually found mine in a yard sale bin, 2.50... fixed it up and spray painted it up, they are very expensive on ebay... but in my opinion worth it because I hate the way cages look today

I actually have two and they are jr sized though. The sr version does not fit my face at all and the jr is just right. For some reason I have two different styles of the cage though. One is more of a bubble while the other is not as bubble shaped but still not flat. Weird.
