Problems with Bauer tapered shafts?

Recommended Posts

Anyone ever have problems with inserting Synthesis blades into Bauer tapered shafts?

I just picked up a Bauer XX shaft (Pro stock) and unless I put a piece of tape or two on the tendon, when the blade is inserted it's loose.

I've seem to have had this problem with the synthesis blade in a couple of different shafts now.....

Sooo...

Anyone else get this problem with Synthesis shafts in general?

Or

Just the problem with Synthesis blades and Bauer shafts?

Thanks!

I've had that problem with a rbk blade in my rbk 6k. It actually came installed in the shaft, and got loose on my first shift with it, so I just added glue at first. Next ice time, it got loose again so I had to tape it.

Loose blades seem to be a common issue with tapered combos, especially when mixing and matching manufacturers. It should hold up fine.

I had the oposite problem getting one of those OLD synthesis composite blades into a prostock tapered Adreneline shaft. It was pretty tight. It was so tight , it got to the point where I was going to give up, afraid to mess up the shaft. But, then it went in after a little more heating. I'm gonna have fun getting that thing out though...

I had the same problem with my XN10 tapered shaft (converted from OPS) and an Inno tapered blade. I had to put 3 strips of tapes on the tendon. This is my second attempt, I hope it'll hold.

I'm also using a Synergy shaft & a TPS standard blade. It started to wiggle during a game last week. It looks like I'll have to pull out the blade and add a strip of tape as well.

i think that the demensions of most blades arent always exact cuz i have some that are hard to put inside and some i put in and it basically falls out and some i gotta put tape on one side and tape on the top and its a big mick mack to get it, but once you do it usually holds up fine, i notice thow with tape my blade feels funny anyone else notice this?

I actually just bought an Easton Synergy ST blade and it wouldnt fit into my synergy si-core, it broke a long time ago and I had a Bauer XV comp blade in there and today I went to switch blades and the ST simply wouldn't fit in the shaft

now I know its obviously not meant to be replaced since it was once a one piece, but can anyone tell me if I need a special blade to fit into what many people use, a sawed down one piece with a blade

YES it does feel funny...that's also part of the problem.

Once the glue breaks down a little from the impact of pucks it just feels a little...off.

At it's worst it feels loose....loose enough that I can actually wiggle it....and we're not talking about cut one pieces or anything. A tapered shaft with a tapered blade....it's annoying the hell out of me.

I recently had issues putting a 6K blade in my Synthesis shaft. I've got 3 layers of tape on it, but it feels fine. Even Sythesis blades in Synthesis shafts aren't always a perfect fit. I would chalk it up to different tolerances in the manufacturing process.
