Dare to Dream 1980 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2007 Alright its been awhile since ive talked on here so i decided to go with you guys on this one. I am 5'10'' 150lbs and am looking into buying a very durable stick. After all my adding ups i figured id go with the Easton St a solid stick but im not sure what flex to get. I can be very hard on my stick at times so im looking either into 100 flex or 85 flex-- have had both before and am not sure which flex is better. I play forwards and usually take a wrist shot or a snap shot need the flex for my shot. I wouldnt need the stick cut down so i was wondering what flex to get 85 or 100? Thanks Evan P.S. mack 44 Report post Posted January 23, 2007 Sounds like you'd be fine with the 85.
hockey315 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2007 Seeing as you're not that big of a guy and you need the snap for your wrist shot, I would go with the 85 flex.

phshockey53 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2007 i'd go with an 85. it is a solid stick and with shooting wristshots and even snappers and sometimes slappers, i've gotten away with 85 before (6'0" 220). i'm using stiff flex TPS XN10 right now and use primarily 100 flex Eastons, but i've switched to forward on my team and shoot snappers and wristers almost all the time and i sometimes wish i had a slightly whippier stick.long story short, my opinion: go with the

tjl_48 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2007 I'm 6 foot 2 and 170lbs. The 85 has been perfect for me. I had a 100 flex before and noticed improvments in all my shots. I'm going to stay with 85 for a long time.
CCC8190 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2007 a counselor at a hockey camp i went to told me about the easton flex system. it's pretty simple, you double the flex # (ie. 85; 170) and subtract ten.
Reaper 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2007 a counselor at a hockey camp i went to told me about the easton flex system. it's pretty simple, you double the flex # (ie. 85; 170) and subtract ten. That sounds all well and good but that method is pretty unreliable in determining what flex of stick a player should use. It makes no account for strength and overall playing style.
warheart45 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2007 You're 5'10" and you use the full 60"??? That's pretty nuts. When I play forward I use an old school synergy 200 95 flex at about 58 1/2" and playing Defense I use a 45 kbp koho revolution 60". I am 6'1" and 205 pounds. So really the 95 flex is more like a 100 since it's cut down alittle. I think the 85 is way too whippy at full length, if you're gonna cut it down alittle then you'll get like a 90-95 flex which I think is perfect for a forward who needs alittle whip.Note: On defense you want alittle longer of a stick for poke checking. Being a forward you dont necesarily need a shorter shaft, it's just better for stick handling imo.
phshockey53 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2007 as far as slap shots go, shooting correctly with an 85 will still be very powerful. i'd go with the 85 for sure.
