What do you mean "escalated"?

Anyway, my main question is since Versus is carrying EIGHT flyers games this season, will I still be able to watch them on Center Ice? My buddy said yes unless the game versus is airing happens to be the only game played that night. Can anyone confirm this?

The Tuesday games on VS are not being shown on any other network in the US. You could always look through the schedule and see what networks are scheduled to cover the game.

The whole DirecTV vs Comcast fiasco is the most annoying thing in the world. Being a Rangers fan and a general hockey fan, VS will carry a lot of quality games this year (trying to up their ratings) that I won't get to see at this point. This pissing match is awful and extremely petty. I can't believe it's worth it for Comcast considering they won't get enough people to switch to Comcast cable just because DirecTV people aren't getting VS. Clearly it would only be the hockey fans, which as previously shown are a small group. I would think they would get more money by settling with DirecTV at a reasonable price than they would by having people switch from satellite to cable.

They have spent a lot of money on broadcast rights lately. They need to increase their customer base or the amount each customer pays in order to start making some of that money back. They want Versus on the basic package so they get paid for every subscriber. Direct wants to put them on a sports tier and only pay them for the people that order that tier.

Same here... hell of a value at that price. Not having Versus sucks, but giving 50% off and credit is giving them too much value.

Hey, I was looking through DirecTV's guide to program the B's games on Center Ice, but none of them were listed. Considering the first game is only four days away, I figured they'd all be there.

Has anyone actually been able to see them in the guide?

Here are the games they are carrying through October (I'm sure it's subject to change):

Okay thanks for the clarification there Chadd.

Here's the NHL schedule on Versus so all of us DTVers can see what we are missing on Tuesday nights (at least those of us who have Center Ice). Check out some of the comments:

Guess I'll be missing the Flyers games against the Caps this month and the Isles and Pens in December for starters. Yea! Since I already ordered Center Ice I really doubt they would give me any kind of service credit now.....

Does anyone here use Fios? If so, any of the center ice games in HD and what is your overall opinion?

I think I have the winner. I just called to make myself heard on the situation and they are crediting our account for the full value of NHL Center Ice, I think since we're repeat subscribers.

I asked to speak to a domestic supervisor. Get out of the offshore call center (you'll know when you do), then be persistent. If they start backing off their best offer then you know you got your best option.

My rep backed off the $50 and 50% to $50 off the bill and $50 off center ice, so I told her I'd take the former.

Im going to try and call tomorrow and see what I can get. I actually have Comcast basic cable since getting that and the internet is cheaper than just the internet alone. Somehow it got screwed up and I actually get their better package and get Versus on it. Now it isnt HD but it can do.

Hopefully I can get a deal on center ice.

You guys have inspired me. I'm going to call and bitch out Verison for not getting MSG in HD. Hopefully they will give me center ice free.

Catch more flies with honey than vinegar. I was quite polite when I called DirecTV and they immediately put me through to the retention office and offered the free Center Ice.

Well I called again and the best I could do is their "only offer available" of half off of Center Ice. Brings me some consolation.

Not sure though how threats of switching to a different service would work since you have a contract with DTV, and if you cancel they still charge you $20/month. How'd you win that argument?

The retention agent didnt even mention it. It was the "programming" agent. And if they wanted me to pay $160 for center ice paying the early termination fee isnt too far off from that. (Usually it max's out at like $200)

The key is to be nice but stern. Dont just call and demand it for free. You have to lure them in. And with DTV if you dont get what you want hang up and call back because someone will give it to you.

does versus still play hockey? I can catch an occasional game on sports south and some other channel had the caroilna game on.. other then that, evey sports channel plays dumb reality or mtv type shows or re-runs of college football games from 20 years ago, inbetween playing live games.

All i've seen so far this year is redneck shows, fighting, and a few dumb shows.

The NHL needs to bring hockey to everyone's doorstep. not charge $160. I'd rather just watch youtube clips tommorow.

Versus has had four or five games in the first week of the season, not sure how much more they could possibly show. There have also been a bunch of games on the NHL network. Either way, it's a hell of a lot more than ESPN was willing to put them on the air.
